Tom Hillman's book "Digging for God" details how his three-week stay at an ashram significantly improved his lifestyle. The author began his narration by describing his journey to the ashram, a place surrounded by mountains, lakes, trees, farms, and a sense of spirituality that embraced him wholeheartedly. The garden, the wind, and the singing of birds welcomed him as soon as he arrived at the ashram. This narration paints a vivid picture of Mother Nature's ability to provide comfort and positive energy to humans who surrender to her. This gave me a sense of how welcoming nature can be, as well as how the environment plays a role when we introduce ourselves to new methods for a healthy lifestyle.

The interior of the ashram creates a spiritually comforting atmosphere upon entry, guiding each individual to improve themselves. The ashram lists the dos and don'ts during a three-week stay. The schedule consists of three activities: food, meditation, and work, all designed to ensure a productive stay. The author explains the importance of activities that happen, such as meditation, which begins in the spiritual morning and transfers the person to an entirely different world, where the soul and mind connect with the higher self and create a peaceful and calm environment. This method evokes willpower and strength, allowing people to relax and control themselves.

Following this, there is a discussion about the food system, as it plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and balancing emotions. This section helped me to understand healthy food habits and how meditation plays an important role in daily life. The daily routine includes scheduling work time after meals and meditation. In a spiritual context, people refer to their work as a "service" to find solace and facilitate positive practices. Working also emphasizes the power of unity and the strength of teamwork, demonstrating God's assistance when we are in need, particularly in ashrams that serve as stress busters. While performing service, Mother Earth instills a sense of divine presence. This discussion sheds light on how the service mindset, mediation, and human qualities can bring us closer to nature and help us regain control over ourselves.

I rate this book 5 out of 5. The positive aspects of the book are engaging narration, precise content, a smooth walkthrough of the schedule, easy-to-understand writing, and a realistic presentation of the experience. The author did a competent job of composing all his experiences into a small book to guide other people. I thoroughly enjoyed the narration and content, so there weren't any issues that disappointed me. The editing team did well in presenting an error-free book for a positive experience. I recommend this book to people who believe in ashram methods and programs that help improve their lifestyles and take help from their faith to improve themselves.

Harshitha, you wrote an excellent review for this book. Nature does have the ability to heal us and provide comfort if we take the time to go outside and look at the sky, listen to the birds, and feel the weather. Meditation is a good skill to have for any time of the day. Healthy eating: Well who can argue with that? The ashram methods can bring us closer to God. This book will guide its readers to benefit from everything an ashram has to offer. Great review! :techie-studyinggray:
