Review of In It Together
A guide to meeting the real you and embracing everything that makes us one and the same. A collection of thoughts and quotes that takes the reader to a self-discovery and spiritual yet not religious journey. In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes, you will have every conception about life, good, evil, and many other empowering concepts challenged and defied by the author´s unique perspective on them.
What I like about this book is how it truly made me wonder and questioned everything I believed in. As a thirty-year-old woman, I had my own definitions and answers for every chapter of the book, so I was kind of skeptical when I started reading it. I mistakenly thought that this was just another self-help book. However, I could not have been further from the truth. The author shattered every single one of my conceptions. I often found myself stuck on a quote or going over an idea of his. I loved this. In my humble opinion, those are the books worth reading, the ones that challenge your mind and transform you into a whole new person. Moreover, the book seemed professionally edited, which always contributes to having an enjoyable reading.
There are not many aspects I did not like about this book, but one that I profoundly dislike was the fact that some of the author´s ideas could have been better synthesized. In some chapters, I was under the impression that he was just rambling about some of the concepts he was trying to convey. However, I am aware of the difficulty that lies in explaining complex and abstract ideas, so here is where I put the blame for the extent of his overly-detailed explanations.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because I absolutely loved reading it. The quotes, the development of concepts, and the revolutionary idea he is introducing to our society made this book a powerful and life-changing reading, that has ever-lasting effects on my personality and myself as a whole.
I would recommend this book to those who are seeking for inner-peace and want a new and refreshing point of view. This book is a must-read for everyone who has been struggling with life and the world we live in. If you have a lot of questions, you may find the answers you have been looking for. Be careful, though, as you might end up with even more questions. However, isn´t that the beauty of reading? Challenging your brain, your beliefs, and yourself.
