I would probably give this book 2 out of 4 stars, and that is only because I feel as if it is outdated. I agree with Mr. Raymond P. Gerson, author of Create the Life You Want, but only to a certain extent. There are just some aspects of our lives that we have absolutely no control over, no matter how optimistically we try and live our lives. When we are children, our mother’s & father’s are supposed to be there to protect us, but what if they weren’t? That would be something I’m sure no one would choose in creating the life they want, but yet it happens. I do not have any special degrees or certifications, nor besides my life experiences only, can I disprove anything that Mr. Gerson has written.
The author was born in different era (I was born in 1984 which makes me part of Generation Y, better known as a Millennial), and I'm sorry, but times are not the same. When this book was published in 2007, I was 23 years old, and thought I knew everything about life (hilarious). I had been through a lot before I was 18 because of unforeseeable events in my life (my two siblings as well) and it seemed nothing went right in my life. This may work just fine for some individuals but it just isn’t something that would work in my life, but I do get it.
I tried to keep a positive outlook on life, even tried to convince myself that I am the ruler of my own destiny, but in actuality our paths are already chosen for us by the time we take our first breath. Now I will agree that knowing (or what one may think to know) what your purpose is in life , can be quite beneficial, but what if you can’t find a purpose for your life? I am not trying to make anyone upset or anything, these are my thoughts after reading, and I do apologize if I offend anyone.
Some of the advice Mr. Gerson gives could still be used in society today, but I believe it to be kind of ‘old fashioned.’ There is so much more going on in the world right now that it’s honestly disgusting, but Raymond P. Gerson was on to something when he wrote this around 14 years ago. He found his happily ever after and at the end of the day what more could you ask for? Life isn’t always sunny and nice, it can also be cruel and unkind, the thing is will you allow it to keep you down or will you rise up to overcome?

I’m a Boomer and find myself getting more “old-fashioned” every day :D. But I do understand what you mean about our not having absolute control over our lives. Thank you for your take on this book. :balloon:

It's interesting how different generations see their future over time; it's becoming sad that as we move on things get worse rathen than better. I liked your point on it.
