This review eloquently captures the profound essence of resilience and personal growth portrayed in Penny Christian Knight's narrative. It adeptly highlights the book's poignant exploration of overcoming adversity, the enduring impact of early experiences, and the importance of resilience in navigating life's challenges. Truly inspiring and highly recommended.

The fact that Penny never gave up on herself despite everything she faced is the most profound lesson of this book. It is very important for people that have come to a breaking point, because it can enable them understand that life do get better If you hold on tight.

A gripping and informative review, thank you.
Penny's journey is a challenging one, however she seems to have a resilient spirit and this is a type of spirit that is an investment to explore.
We live in a world of beauty and perils, resilience is an important aspect to be developed in terms of knowing we can still overcome and even persevere.
This book sounds deeply beautiful . The themes of the book relate to the challenges of most woman, Penny's story however is a courageous one that will no doubt fuel any snuffed of flames due to similar atrocities faced.
Congratulations to the author for putting this out into the world

I am sorry to say, but the title alone guarantees with total certainty that I will have to pass this book, because any story that involves sex abuse, even though eventually the "Quest for Love and Inner Peace" will be successful, definitely isn't something I would like to dedicate my limited free time to reading. Apologies and still congrats on BOTD!

Seems Penny had a lot to deal with and learning about a difficult marriage and all these abuses are heart wrenching and will obviously go through this book.

Thank you for your exceptional review and insight into Penny's memoir. I agree that the pervasive theme of feeling unloved at an early age has a far-reaching impact on shaping the perception of an individual's self-worth. I sampled Book One of a memoir trilogy, Developing Resilience by Penny Christian Knight. I read up to the point where she had just turned nine. Her reference to Morris Massey's 1980s documentary stating that we are a product of the time and place in history we existed, especially near 10 to 12, left a deep impression upon me as I was reading about her childhood. I started Book One of my memoirs at the beginning of the 2020 global pandemic and completed it up to grade 12. I had a lot of difficulty writing about my abusive childhood and the abandonment of my parents, who left me under the care of social services and foster homes at the age of 10. After reading part of Penny's memoir, I am experiencing those feelings again. I am in my 60s and am still not at peace at this stage in my life. As the author stated, we are the subject of our research project without knowing it. Penny's courage and honesty have encouraged me to continue my project, and she has given me much insight into how to write such a challenging memoir. I eagerly look forward to reading her entire trilogy.

Based on your review and the smale sample I read of this book, I think this would be a very emotional read. I think it definitely tells an important story to show people the after math of abuse, but also showing the resilience of someone who has gone through it.
This was a very good review!

This sounds interesting and I'm sure I can learn a bit from this, as I myself went through some of the things she did. It's always nice to see someone that went through the same experiences as you, overcame the trauma they went through. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

Knight then acquaints perusers with a scope of devices and procedures for developing flexibility, including care rehearses, mental rethinking, and positive brain research systems.

Developing resilience is an amazing encounter with the light and peace after a great storm. This book will not only empower you but also give you purpose and a backbone one has never had. As excruciating sexual abuse is on any individual, this is a book to make you whole.

We underestimate our childhood traumas and what they create of us but this book is the bible for such. This authentic writing by Penny Knight makes you travel a sad truth that evolves into a positive mindset. At age 80 when writing these, it did not matter any more how people recieved it. It was her truth. At age 14 running away from her older brother and finding comfort in a latched bathroom door was a trauma no teenager should deal with.

In 1934 she did not even know how best to classify this occurrence whether it was rape or sex that her brother had done to her. Her mother, negligent towards her and father divorced when she was only 4 years old. This makes her according to my knowledge an orphan. Her parents were to busy to be pro active parents towards her.

Emeline Gertrude , the authors mother was also a writer in her prime. Born in 1909 times then were challenging for any single parent as much as they are now. Her mother according to the script grew fatherless and came from a mother also without a father. The fatherless pattern to these women's was beginning of a lack of guidance.

The author shows us how to deal with PTSD or sexual traumas that took her decades to overcome.what surprises me is its been more than a century since the timeline of these women but things around us have not changed. Women are still regarded as next to nothing when they are not empowered. You and I could be fighting a different situation but same problem. This book is the remedy.

I love an authentic , clean and expressive book . A 4 out of 4 from me for its truimphant spirit. This is the modern day female bible and we accept.
Be yourself and nothing less

There are some books that always leave readers speechless. This book and the review are both that. I can't comprehend the struggle and mental trauma a woman can go just for the sake of her children. I absolutely admire the courage author took and Took back her life from her toxic husband. One mistake may lead your life to another destiny but it cannot decide your fate.

Based on this review and the introduction of the book, it is evident that this is a compelling and insightful read. It delves into controversial topics, such as childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and more. I think youths will benefit from the author's views on sex education. I admire Penny's resilience and the courage to fight for a better day!
