Lemoncella- Cocktail by Rene Natan-
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.
Lemoncella- Cocktail, lives up to its interesting title with its diverse range of characters and their involvement in the case at hand. The most interesting being Patrick, who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, saving a girl from being drowned and getting himself involved in an investigation that he wanted no apart of. Why did they try to kill her? Who set them up to do it? I feel sorry for Sam specifically, as she happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This story is well written with a lot of detail put into the description of the setting, making you as the reader feel apart of the story with it being very easy to imagine what the characters are witnessing.
The language used throughout by the Rene Natan, is beautiful and makes you highly motivated to keep reading to find out what has happened and why. Although, some of these outstandingly descriptive moments are let down by grammatical and spelling errors which can easily be improved and will turn this piece of literature into a 4 star rating quiet easily. Due to the language and content of this story I would think that it is best suited to those over 18 with an interest in crime and getting a perspective from more than one character, which I personally thoroughly enjoyed.
As well as this, the characters in this story are very complicated with a lot of background information revealed about them throughout. I sometimes had to go back and read some pages again as they had so much detail in that I could not fully absorb all the information about the characters. I find the relationship between Arthur and Martha highly interesting and love the fact that you get to see the perspective of the criminals within this story as well as the victims.
The relationships that develop between different characters is somewhat inspirational at times. Especially with regards to Patrick and young Justin who almost develop a Father and Son relationship throughout. This relationship in particular makes Patrick start to become likable as his normally sturm and glum personality is interrupted by this sweet and innocent boy who just wants to play and be involved.
Overall, I would highly recommend this novel to those who are interested in crime and mature. It is an interesting read with some beautiful moments.
