The 11:05 Murders is a crime/thriller fiction written by Brian O'Hare. Though it is the second book in the series of Inspector Sheehan Mysteries, it can be read as a stand-alone novel.

Denise Stewart, a police constable, promoted to a Detective Sergeant as a result of exposing a corrupt superior officer, is a woman working in a world of men facing verbal assault.
Finding herself in a new work environment and a new role where she is no longer a passive officer in the police force, she has to build relationships with a new team, fight off a charming admirer and a growing attraction towards a colleague. She is set to prove that she has what it takes to work in the Serious Crimes Unit solving the mysteries behind the 11:05 murders while dealing with a secret informant who seems to know the mysteries behind the murders.

The 11:05 Murders makes for a thrilling interesting read. The writer describes every thought, word and action vividly, giving the readers an in-depth knowledge of each character. You may have your suspicions but you are kept on a merry-go-round of potential killers because almost everyone is made to look like the killer. The emotion of each character is described in such a way that can be easily imagined. This means you get sucked into a world made real by the subtle emotions and actions of the characters. This book also projects the issues women face having to deal with assault which may be verbal or physical. Most people are not aware of what others face when assaulted and the writer mentioned steps carried out when such occur.

I am drawn to the character, Denise Stewart because she shows great strength even when facing difficulties in her love life and career. She did not let the assaults she faced change her outlook on the reason why she chose to be in the police force. She stood for the women who could not fight for themselves, using her role as an officer to shield them from further harm.

I totally rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It kept me up late into the night. I could not bear to part with it.
Though I started the Inspector Sheehan Mysteries with this book, I am sure going to read the first book of the series, moving onwards.

If you love to act the detective, this book is for you. If you love to be kept on your toes, it sure is for you.

Thanks for the review. I like that you captured how Denise took both the verbal and physical assault she faced, in stride. I missed that when I reviewed the book.
