The 11:05 murders by Brian O'Hare is a fiction, my supplementary copy had 376 pages.
When single woman Inspector Denise Stewart reports the corruption that she discovered at Lisburn City Police Station where she worked as a constable. She is promoted and transferred to Strand town police station, where she fears that the circumstances that lead to her appointment would affect her relationship with her colleagues. Whilst trying to settle down she had the likes of young Detective Tom Allen and handsome, charismatic Prosecutor Robert Turner and the last thing she needed was jump in another relationship.
The story kicks off when Sergeant Denise Stewart is investigating a murder case of James Fitzpatrick that happened on a Tuesday night at 11:05 Pm. The victim worked as a banker, and after interviewing a few of his colleagues it was discovered that he was not a well- liked guy because he was very ambitious, who was known for driving wealthy clients bankruptcy and this left the clients furious. To make matters worse he was having an affair with the wife of an ex-loyalist paramilitary who was guilty on occasion of violence.
With a list of suspects who all have a possible motive to want the victim dead, the investigation becomes more intriguing when another man is murdered similar to the first killing, this mounts pressure on the law enforcement to solve the crime.
Without giving any spoilers, all i will say is that the ending is shocking expect the unexpected. what i liked about the book is that the author presented an interesting profile of the killer, this kept me guessing till the end and what i did not like is that the prologue did not make sense, when i first started reading the book but only made sense when I reached chapter 49 then I had to read it again. What i liked most about the book is that the author gave a detailed description of the characters and my favorite character was Denise Stewart because as a woman I was able to relate to the daily challenges and criticism she faced at work and the courage she had to stand up for the truth really stood out the most for me. What i liked least is that being a law student I was looking forward to the procedural aspect of how the evidence was gathered, I think the evidence that led to the arrest of the killer was circumstantial.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars i enjoyed reading the book because of the authors style of writing and definitely I will read his other book 'The Doom Murders'. I commend the author for creating a good profile of the killer this made the book more interesting to read, However i would have rated the book 4 out of 4 stars if the author had covered the evidence aspect of what lead to the arrest of the killer.
I think this book is suitable for anyone who loves crime, mystery, friction or law students and will I definitely recommend this book to family and friend.
