"The Final Act" by Van Fleisher is a political thriller that recounts the narrative of Phil, an ordinary accountant who unintentionally becomes engaged in a perilous scheme to topple the government. The novel is set in a dystopian United States in which the government has become corrupt and no longer serves the people’s needs. The plot is engaging and keeps the reader interested throughout the novel.

Throughout the novel, the author does an excellent job of establishing suspense and urgency, and the pacing is generally decent. The characters have different personalities and drives that make them feel real. The conversation is well-written as well, with each character having their own distinct voice. One of the aspects that I really liked about "The Final Act", is that it delves into significant subjects such as government corruption and the risks of complacency. The author does an excellent job of emphasizing the necessity of civic engagement and holding our leaders accountable, even in the midst of adversity. The book urges readers to consider the role of government in their lives critically and to participate actively in determining our collective destiny.

Some portions of the book, however, could have been improved. At times, the writing style is clumsy, with odd sentence construction and overuse of words. Furthermore, the plot is sometimes predictable, with certain plot twists appearing clichéd and artificial. Because of this, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

In terms of sexual material, the book contains some mild sexual content, in this case, rape scenes, but it is not graphic or explicit. There were sections where swear words were used as well. Because of these factors, I would recommend this book for adults only.

Overall, "The Final Act" is a good political thriller that enthusiasts of the genre should read. However, due to several faults with the writing style and plot predictability, it falls short of becoming a superb novel.
