TITLE: Final Act
AUTHOR: Van Fleisher
GENRE: Sci-fi

Final Act is a Sci-fi book that follows the story of Dr. Vijay Patel who invents an electronic watch — a VT2 watch with the company, VitalTech, he works for. VT2 watch, unlike any other watch, indicates the death date of the user. This invention is born out of love; Dr. Vijay Patel's purpose for the watch is for the device to remind the users that they have a short time on earth and for the users to spend quality time with their family and friends before dying. Dr. Vijay Patel wants the users to die happy, knowing that they are loved. The question that the reader may ask is if society has the same motive, what if the VT2 watch gets in the wrong hands?

Van Fleisher did a commendable job. The book was interesting and the plot was top-notch. I particularly loved the fact that the book contained scientific facts and inventions. This made me think about the future. If scientists ever invented a device like this, how would society accept it without misusing it? The world is made up of good and bad people, and there's no way that people won't use the device for another purpose. Science and technology had greatly improved mankind's life and at the same had destroyed mankind because science and technology got in the wrong hands. I loved that this book portrayed these events vividly. Another aspect of this book that interested me was; how the author showed how some women were maltreated in society. The author used a final notice recipient, Mildred Pierce, to show how these women would respond to this maltreatment using the technology invented. But no matter how we might see it, paying evil with evil doesn't always end well. There were more positive aspects of this book. I learned more on the subjects of parenting, loneliness and knowing how to separate one's work life and family, from this book. In addition, this book taught me that life was too short to be wasted. So, live every moment.

I don't think that there are any negative aspects of this book because the storyline was realistic and fascinating.

The book is well edited. There were no grammatical errors or any sort of punctuation errors in it. So, I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend the book to sci-fi readers and to people that love reading thrillers. The book was a great read.
