Daisy’s Run by Scott Baron is the first book of five books in The Clockwork Chimera Series. The Universe has been here for more than a million years, and the Earth is only a few thousand. Humans always keep evolving physically and mentally, designing new buildings, discussing new minerals, and making life better. Humans love creating things that make their lives better, easier, and more enjoyable. Artificial intelligence is one of humanity’s most successful inventions, and the growth of AI is even more profound than expected. However, mankind knows the power of AI (or rather they don’t). Daisy is a young engineer aboard the Vali, a spaceship heading toward the dark side of the moon. The ship is full of crew members sound asleep, waiting to be awakened for only a short period before their arrival on the moon base. When all the crew is awakened by the inexplicable damage to The Vali, strange events start to occur, and questions start to arise.

This book has three hundred and sixty-one pages. It is divided into thirty-seven chapters. The story is narrated from the third-person limited omniscient viewpoint (also known as third-person close), which focuses on Daisy but still gives you an overall view of the surroundings. Some themes found in this book include friendship and betrayal; good vs. evil; love; death; and disillusionment.

There are a lot of aspects I love about this book. The book has a strong opening which gets you involved in the story right away. The story is set in space, and they are working with robots (which is a futuristic aspect I very much enjoy). There is a good balance of tension and release in the book which is very necessary with them being in the void of space.

Scott Baron took a risk by writing a story about the future that many have tried to achieve before him, but I am happy to report that this book’s sense of originality is amazing. The moment you think you know what is going to happen next, your breath gets taken from your lungs.

There are a few spelling and grammatical mistakes in the book, but other than that, this is a well-edited book. Other than the spelling errors, I enjoyed this book very much. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed the space adventure and the AI involvement. I recommend this book to a reader who likes mysteries, dramas, and science fiction.
