The first thing that attracted me to pick this book for review was the name, Randy Love. The unusual name of the character puts me in a weird mood even before I opened the book. For those who would usually pick romance and adventurous novels over other books, I'm sure you will understand what I'm saying. However, I wouldn't categorize this novel as belonging to the romance genre as the central theme is self-discovery and self-development.
In the book Randy Love... at your service, Randy is the youngest child of John and Marjorie Love. John is a sales personnel and a force to reckon with in his field of work. Also, his wife Marjorie is gainfully employed and doing well for herself. They have a beautiful family with three children. Randy older siblings, Heather and James could be described as serious-minded and successful people. Both firmly established in the construction and law sectors.
As expected, Shay Carter presented Randy as the protagonist. Randy is a charming, carefree, manipulative young man. His father, John, liked him the most especially because he is a chip off the old block. However, John was concerned for Randy because he was showing signs of unseriousness. Nevertheless, John was determined to help his son against this backdrop.
I like the character of John, Randy's father. His sense of humour and composure is intriguing. He added spice to this book. I also like that the author included a glossary at the end of the book. Safes readers a lot of headaches!
Unfortunately, this is one of those books that keep you hopeful throughout the pages. My expectations were never fully met. I kept expecting that the next chapter is when the story will finally reach a climax but till the end of this book that didn't happen. The secondary character development is not very good as well. A book of this kind shouldn't be flat and parallel. The readers should feel an increased level of excitement from the first to the last chapter.
Except for one spelling error I noticed which did not distract my reading interest, this book was exceptionally edited. I rate Randy Love at your service 3 out of 4 stars. I deducted 1 star because of the reasons I stated above. I would recommend this novel to book lovers generally and particularly to those who prefer humorous stories as there are many instances in this book.
