The 11.05 Murders, is a mystery story about Rookie Sergeant Denise Stewart, who has been recently assigned to her new position. She is working with her new team to solve a series of murders that are occurring at the specific time of 11:05. Denise must not only work at solving the crimes, but also work on finding her place among her new team in a new community. Just when it seems that the investigation is going in the right direction, there are several twist along the way make solving these crimes a bit more difficult.
I could relate to the main character of this book, who is working in a male dominated industry. She always has her guard up and really works to have everyone see that she is capable and demands the respect that she deserves. While I was able to figure out who the murder was, all of the twists in the plot caused me to question my own judgement. Additionally, this story does have a little romance in it, but the author does not dwell on that specific aspect which is nice.
The story was written using words that are not regularly used in American English, and I had to look up some of the words to ensure that I understood their proper meaning. This did not hinder my ability to read and understand the story.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The plot was suspenseful and intriguing, and I finished the book in one afternoon. I gave it three stars because I thought the story was great and I truly enjoyed the read. I didn't give the book four stars because I could not be certain that it was edited properly, but admittedly, it could have just been written in a way that I am not accustomed to. I didn't give this book a two because I thought that it was a great story with a great plot.
I had not heard of Brian O'Hare before reading The 11:05 Murders, but I will most definitely be looking for more from him. I was not disappointed at all in this book. This would be a great choice for anyone who likes a fast paced and intriguing mystery books. Every piece of information that is learned and every piece of evidence collected is valuable and important, so if a reader enjoys being on the edge of their seat, then this is a book for them.
