Lemoncella Cocktail by Rene Natan is a fictional book that starts in 2015 near Grand Bend, Ontario. It chronicles the tale of the McLeod family, whose oldest daughter, Amelia, saw a criminal act and now the criminals want her dead. It also goes through the lives of those that have become close to the McLeod family and how they are trying to keep the family safe, including the police known as the task force.

This story brings together a myriad of characters that are either trying to hide from the criminals trying to kill them, or trying to capture those same criminals, or the criminals themselves. You learn about each character individually and how they relate to each other and the McLeod family. I especially liked one character from the beginning: Patrick Carter who saves one of the daughters, Samantha, from drowning in the river after being thrown in and now the criminals want to kill him also. Even though he wants to disappear, he becomes close with the family and helps the task force to help save the family.

The book started out slow in the beginning, but then it gained momentum, then started to spark my interest and I almost couldn’t put it down. What I didn’t care for mainly in the beginning was the fact that each chapter didn’t leave me with that, what will happen next feeling; but by the end of the book I did start to get that feeling. I also didn’t like Oscar, one of the main criminals who is trying to kill almost everyone, because he thinks everything going wrong in his life is someone else fault and he needs to eliminate them because of this.

In all I did like the book, the up, and downs of the family, and friends were especially captivating. I would recommend this book to those that love fictional crime stories and especially those that like the mob type stories.

I was happy with the way this book ended; and how the main criminal Oscar got what he deserved and the family and friends obtained the happiness they deserved with a little heartache added in. Overall, I would give this book a 3 out of 4 stars. Because like I said it was really hard to keep my interest in the beginning and there was a few grammatical errors. I wasn’t sure if that was the way the characters spoke or if they were actually errors.
