The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for The Other Side Of Healing: Surviving Life Trauma .. Make the Choice To Survive and Thrive .. Never Give Up.
Because The Other Side Of Healing was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

I wouldn't have read this book outside the program because the cover doesn't really appeal to my eyes. The title, though, is somewhat stimulating, so I'm really undecided as to whether or not I would have picked up the book. The sample didn't do much to persuade me in favor of reading it further; it was too short and didn't contain enough for me to bond. However, I think the author has a point when she mentioned that we have an "energy light within" which can be dimmed due to traumatic experiences. I also agree that "recovery is really your choice" and that sometimes, your reignited light can shine "brighter than it was before because your experience and new knowledge taught you to cope not only with your trauma but also with life in general...you will handle it in a new way." I didn't spot any errors in the little bit I read, but that's not enough for me to state that the editing was top-notch simply because the sample wasn't lengthy enough. I saw an OBC review which talked more on the health challenges which I'm not keen on reading, but I won't purchase this book based on just that small portion I read.

The cover and the title are indicative of the theme of the book. There are 7 Amazon customer ratings. The Amazon summary gives a clear description of the theme of the book. As I am not interested in the subject of healing, I would have skipped sampling the book if not for the First Ten program. As I sampled through the book, I found the narration containing the introduction of the book, which explains how the author got into healing. As I am not interested in healing, I am not going to read this book in full. I found the sample professionally edited. I didn't find any grammatical or mechanical errors. I didn't like anything specifically about the book. I do not have any suggestions for improvement. Although I found one OBC review of the book, my decision to not to read the book in full is based on my own sampling.

The cover is beautiful. The blurb and reviews were pretty positive, but I knew I wouldn't want to read the book as I don't read self help books. The sample seemed to be edited professionally, just like the official review said. I liked how the author tries to impart positivity to the readers by stating that every kind of illness can be treated if the patient is willing. I liked how she asserts that there is an energy lighting up within us and that we can control its intensity. It was kinda frustrating not knowing what the author's mysterious illness was. There wasn't anything I disliked, but I thought that the Introduction was nothing extraordinary, just some encouraging sentences that can be found in many other books. I wouldn't be reading this book as I'm not interested in the premise.

The cover of this book is stunning and would have prompted me to sample the book. The sample was interesting, but quite minimal. Based on what I read, I do think I would like to read this book and find out more about Bonnie’s story and what her diagnosis and treatment plan was.The book appears to be professionally edited. There is nothing I can advise to be improved. The official OnlineBookClub review was informative and confirmed that I will be adding this book to my reading list.

I would not have sampled this book based on the genre, blurb, OBC review, cover and title. After reading the sample, I will not be purchasing this book. The sample did not include chapter content. It only included the introduction. This is not enough to get a good idea of the author’s style. I would have liked to see more content in that sample. In the introduction she said she wanted to create a book that fills the gap in what she was searching for when she got sick. While this is inspiring and will be great for many people, it isn’t for me. It did seem to be professionally edited.

From the cover, blurb, and review of this book, I wouldn’t have read it. I'm really note into books I'd this genre or style. After reading the first ten pages I didn’t change my mind and therefore will not be buying and reading the rest of this book. I appreciated how early on the author mentions how recovery may not be easy, but it's a choice. That being said, I'm not the ideal audience for this book as I'm not spiritual or in need of healing from anything. I didn’t see anything specific that I would have wanted to change within the sample that I read, but it did seem well written and edited. The official review did not affect my decision at all.

I read the sample on Amazon, though it was short, the introduction captures my interest. I am eager to know about autoimmune disorder since I have a niece having with this kind of illness. The sample pages are the introduction of the book only, I did not notice any typos. I assumed that the book is professionally edited. I like how the author gives an overview about the content of the book. The OBC review encourages me to check this book out.

Based on the review, I was interested in this book specifically because the author talks about living a life of healing alongside chronic illness and pain. Upon reading the sample, I felt that the author added a lot of value to the conversation, especially through her analogy about every person having a light inside of them that they may brighten or dim based on their life circumstances. The content is interesting and well written without editing errors. I look forward to reading the rest of this one.

The book is a memoir detailing the author's coping journey with her autoimmune disorder. Additionally, the author also describes emotional healing methods we can make use of in difficulties and to handle life's tough situations. I really loved sampling the book. I would have read it anyways because I liked the cover page and the book's summary. This read deals with topics of my interest, such as positive thinking and healthy eating. I like that the book starts with an introduction, which made the author's purpose of writing it clear to me. The thing I liked the most was how much I could relate emotionally with what the author was trying to communicate. I also enjoyed the clear and concise language, and I've a feeling the author's language will be to the point for the rest of this book. As for the editing, I didn't find any error in the portion I read. I believe the book is professionally edited. I did see an official review for this book, and I'm definitely going to read the whole book as it deals with subjects I'm interested in.

This isn't a book I need or am interested in, so I would not have read the sample without The First Ten, and I will not be buying it. I did like the author's tone in the introduction. She sounds very encouraging but without sounding like she is trying to convince the reader that it will be easy or quick.
My opinion was not affected by the official review. I found no editing errors, and there is nothing that needs to be improved.

I'm not a huge fan of self-help books; they're just not appealing to me. Thus, "The Other Side of Healing" isn't a book I'd choose to purchase blindly. After reading the book blurb, I found I didn't connect to the book's premise, and I don't feel like I need a lot of help in any of the areas mentioned in the blurb. An OBC review wouldn't sway my opinion in this case because the book content and themes don't spark my interest. Unfortunately, the Amazon sample is fairly short and doesn't get past the introduction to the book. From the introduction, I gained an appreciation for the author's purpose for writing the book. It seemed like the author had to deal with a lot of burdensome medical issues in her life, but it's great to think she was able to continue to live her life. Further, I think it's wonderful that she aims her writing at helping others in a similar situation. However, after reading the author's words, I still didn't feel like this is a book I would learn from. Despite the author's claims that her advice for overcoming these medical issues could be transferred to other types of life challenges, I failed to see the connection - I just wasn't convinced. As for the writing, I didn't notice any glaring grammatical errors, and I appreciated that the author's writing style was straightforward. Based on the themes of the book and the information in the introduction, I don't plan to read any more of this book.

Based on the title and genre, I wouldn't have sampled the book because I don't usually go for books in this genre. I read the official review and then sampled The Other Side Of Healing. I liked that after so many years of wanting to write this book, the author made it happen. I hoped that in the end, she found a permanent treatment for all her ailments and symptoms. I found no errors nor areas that needed improving. However, I won't be reading the rest of the book because the content isn't for me.

I wouldn't have chosen this book because I usually prefer to read fiction, but I did see that it had a positive review. I didn't find any grammatical mistakes in the sample, and I was happy that the author acknowledged how frustrating it is to have an untreatable illness before she began talking about how recovery is a choice. Although I think this book could be good for people facing major life obstacles, I'm not in a situation where I think it could help me, so I don't plan to finish it.

If I had not read the sample, I would not have read the book as I do not read this genre. After reading the sample, I have not changed my mind. I did appreciate how the introduction mentioned how maybe there were some disorders that medical schools did not cover — I think as a society we are used to thinking about doctors and medications as miracles and I like that this was realistic. Overall, however, there was also some talk about spirituality which I could not really connect with. It was professionally edited. I did not read an official review but that did not affect my decision.

'The Other Side of Healing' is a book written by Bonnie Fogler. The title, cover, OBC review and Amazon review did a good job at convincing me to give this book a try.
The sample of the book leads me to believe that it is a non-fiction book. The author details her story of recovery from a series of chronic diseases. I like the author's tone. I found some errors. For example, it should have been “thriving" instead of “thrive" in “..alive and thrive again..” I do not think that it is professionally edited. I will give this book a skip as I am not in the mind-frame to read a book of this genre as of now.

I like the cover of this book. It is eye catching and feels refreshing. However, I will not buy this book, as the genre is not to my liking. The sample was very short, namely two pages, so I do not actually understand what this book has to say on the idea of healing as a whole, but I would not read it. No typos were found in the sample. With two pages of introduction being the only thing in the sample I could not really understand much about the book. People who seek spiritually might find this book interesting. The Official review is present, and the reviewer finds it motivating.

I might have sampled this on the basis of the cover, title and blurb as I appreciate motivational books. I won't buy and read it today as I am well supplied with such books; this one seems expensive and I don't know what its unique selling point is. The sample text I saw appeared professionally edited as I noticed no errors. I liked the author's description of trauma dimming the energy light within - this is a helpful metaphor. The length of the sample could be improved as I couldn't see enough to determine what makes this book special. The OBC review was helpful in indicating that the book does not preach any particular form of religion, which is a plus. My decision was ultimately based on the short sample.

I like the exceptional cover. The title pulls in my curiosity as the title sounds philosophical. I am going to buy and read this book because I want to understand what the author meant by 'The Other Side of Healing'. Reading the first ten pages did not change my mind from my original guess.
The book looks like it was professionally edited as there were no errors in the bit I read. What I know about this book is that it is a record of the author's discovery and recovery from a chronic illness. What I like most in the bit I read is how the author briefly explains how we can use our body, soul, and 'energy light' within to control our life to our favor. I didn't notice any need for improvement in the bit I read. The book has an Official OnlineBookClub review.

I'm not into self-help books, so I wouldn't have sampled this book without the first ten program. The title and cover are beautiful and poetical, though. The book has only 7 customer reviews, but they are mostly 4 stars. I'm sure people who passed through traumatic expriences will find the emotional survival techniques outlined in the book quite helpful. The sample was short and easy to read. I liked the author's honesty about her own medical condition. I also admire her for her decision to share what she learned from her experiences with other people. I couldn't find any editing errors either. Even if the OBC reviewer seems to have tremendously enjoyed the book, I'm still not convinced to read it because it basically repeats the same ideas on positive thinking and the Law of Attraction.

The title itself gives away everything this book is about. The cover is spectacular and the OBC review had good praise for this book. The excerpt I sampled seemed to be written in a heart-felt manner. Although the review mentions some typing errors, I did not encounter any during sampling. However, I have previously read a few books on this topic, and while the author's encouraging words seemed genuine, they did not seem to offer any additional details on the topic of law of attraction and spiritual healing. Hence, I decided not to read this book.

The cover art is very appealing. I find the title, The Other Side of Healing, to be also good. I would take a second look at this book based on the cover and the title. This inspirational memoir tells how Bonnie Fogler faced her illness and was able to keep a positive attitude during the ordeal. This book is well-written and well-researched. It is meant to help people facing their life problems. There was very little content in the sample pages. Only the Introduction was available. The author hopes that this book will help someone who is facing illness as she once did. She wished she had something to help her when she was sick. She hopes her book helps others. I found no grammatical or spelling errors in this part and based on that I think this book has been professionally edited. The official review rated this book highly and made the story sound like it might be helpful to me. However, since I couldn't get a real feel for the writing. I will pass on purchasing the book. I will not be finishing this one.

I almost skipped on this book because I feel self-help books can get too wordy sometimes. I only wanted to check it out when the official review mentioned that it’s actually part memoir. Due to the length of the book, only the introduction was available to sample, but it was beautifully and eloquently written. I could feel the author’s sincere desire to help in sharing her experience. The sample seemed professionally edited, and I only noticed an instance where a comma was needed: “When someone is faced with traumatic events[,] big or small, he or she can dim or turn off that light“ (p. 1). Unfortunately, the sample lacked a hook that would make me want to continue reading. I may come back and check out this book if it ever goes on discount, but I won’t purchase it today.

The cover art is truly mesmerizing. It's as if a seemingly insignificant figure has broken through to find meaning, purpose, power and hope within the aurora borealis itself! The Amazon product description is encouragingly uplifting, and I think many prospective readers will immediately resonate with some of the themes listed there. I like that the table of contents breaks the book up into concise, easily manageable sections. While the accessible Kindle sample only allows viewing of the first 2 pages of the introduction, the print book preview allows substantially more. On page 8, the word "hypothyroid" should realistically be expanded to "hypothyroidism" in order to accurately refer to the disorder mentioned. This book appears to have been professionally edited and seems to be written in a tone that will be easily comprehensible by general audiences. The published OBC review and Amazon user ratings certainly agree on the insightful content and genuinely beneficial tips. It is always nice to find a title with well-organized and honest impressions of topics like positive thinking, dependable support systems, healthy lifestyle choices, and motivational mantras. As an osteopathic physician who was trained in America, I can sympathize with the "let's just throw several lab tests and pharmaceuticals at it and see what improves" approach, and for that, the author certainly has my understanding and shared frustration. So many people around the world feel absolutely debilitated by chronic illnesses and autoimmune disorders, eventually reaching a point of "defeated acceptance" as their only conceivable way to cope. While it is probably not the right book for me, I feel it genuinely has the potential to meaningfully touch many lives.

From the cover and blurb, I wouldn't have chosen to read this book because it seems like just another self-help book. I don't mean to sound dismissive but a lot of authors have suffered and overcame physical or emotional ailments and think they can offer the cure, so I wasn't really impressed. The book does have a lot of positive reviews and that made a good impression on me. However, I was convinced because of the sample of the first ten pages. I will read this book. Unlike many self-help books, I found the narrative voice to be honest and I was able to relate to the author's frustration at the medical community. The book seems professionally edited and I didn't find any mistakes. It has an official review that changed my mind, neither for the better nor for the worse. If there was something to improve I would say the author should include something on the blurb to highlight what makes this book special.

I normally don't read this genre. The cover art and title are appealing, and the official review made the book sound very good. The sample I read didn't have any obvious errors. The first few pages introduces the author's frustration with the lack of answers when diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, and how a book like this one would have been helpful for her in that process. I won't be continuing to read this one, since I typically don't enjoy the genre.

The book cover and title are both interesting. The Amazon blurb gave the overall message of the book as to not give up when faced with life challenges that make a person feel hopeless. The book offers emotional survival techniques that can help a person not only survive but also to thrive when faced with a chronic illness, divorce, grief, or other disappointments in life. The author shared in the sample that she had a chronic illness that the doctors could not accurately diagnose or treat. I best like that she searched for answers and came up with a three-part recovery (body, soul, and spirit) that all worked together to improve her health and well-being. The author then will share her findings in the rest of the book. The book seems to be edited well, as I did not notice any errors. The OBC review mentioned that some of the techniques used by the author were positive thinking, the Law of Attraction, and a good diet. I do not want to read this book because, though I am happy for the author’s recovery and sharing her experience, I am fully aware of the use of positive thinking and the Law of Attraction. I have read several books on these issues.

I normally wouldn't have picked this book up as the summary and genre don't really interest me. Having read the sample I won't be continuing on with the book since it didn't really appeal to me. The sample is just the introduction to the book where the author talks about their medical struggles and how they couldn't find satisfactory medical care. The author talks about how they learned to deal with trauma and tragedy and hope to give that information to others. The writing is fine and I didn't notice any grammar errors. Those who like self help books might like this book. I'm not really interested in this kind of book. I read the OBC review of the book and it did not influence me that I would like this book any more.

Before reading the sample, I thought that I would not like this book. It was based on the genre of the book and the official OnlineBookClub review that I read. I liked that the book is very motivational and emotional. However, I am not interested in the topic of this book; therefore, I will not buy and read the book. I noticed some grammatical mistakes in the text. For example, the sentence "When someone is faced with traumatic events big or small, he or she can dim or turn off that light." should have a comma before the word "big."

The sample of this book is basically an explanation by the author about the topic of the book. She was diagnosed with chronic autoimmune diseases. Lab tests and finding a root cause did not come easy. This author is sharing her story to encourage those who may be going through the same situation.
I won’t be finishing this book. I’m in good health and not the demographic that this book is intended for. It seemed that it would be best suited for those who are in the same position as the author and looking for encouragement. I absolutely love the cover of this, and I think for those this is a fit for, the book will be of great help. The review did not sway my decision or change my mind about reading this.
I didn’t see any typos in the opening pages, and according to the reviewer, there were some in the book, but not enough to take away a perfect score. This would lead me to believe that it has been professionally edited.
I appreciate the opportunity to read the sample pages of this one and will send it out on my social media for others to look into. I probably wouldn’t have found this without the online book club as the self-help market is flooded with titles.

Before sampling this book, I would not have picked it up. Even though the OBC review had many good things to say, I don't have a chronic illness and this doesn't really apply to me. The only thing available on the free sample was the introduction. I would have liked to see more of the book to get a feel for the way the subject matter was covered: the writing style and tone. I admire the author's goal, and I hope this book is helpful to people who find themselves in the same position as the author in the future. Since I am not in that group, I don't plan to continue reading this book. I didn't notice any errors in the pages I read.

I have come across a positive review of this book, and it has piqued my interest. However, I have found an error at 1% in the sample: "Surviving Life Trauma ..." - there should not be a space before the ellipsis. I would suggest that the book undergo more editing to remove all these minor errors. I like that the author has seen fit to include an introduction, where she introduces herself slightly, as it helps the reader to relate to her better. For example, she speaks of her health troubles: she knew that she was sick at that time, but modern medicine was unable to give her an accurate diagnosis with the current technologies available. This is how she started to learn that her recovery came in three parts: the mind, the body and the spirit. However, I will not be buying the book today, as I am currently not in the market for self-help books.

This book’s title and description didn’t hook me. I sometimes enjoy self-help books, but from the description, this one seemed too much like a “do these things, and you’ll never be sad again!” book. Before sampling, I wasn’t interested in reading. After sampling, I would have passed if not for the OnlineBookClub.org review. The book appears professionally edited. I noticed no errors. The introductory pages made me think this was more (or at least equal parts) memoir to self-help. They set up the author’s journey through illness to finding happiness. At this point, I’d lost interest and jumped over to the review. It told me this really wasn’t a memoir and was actually something I’d like to read. Elements like the law of attraction are things I believe strongly in. I’m interested to see what the author has to say. I have no improvements to suggest at this time and look forward to giving this a try.

I like how the author explains how the things she learned can be helpful not just for her particular illness, but for many different types of difficulties. I like how she described us as being lights that can shut off or dim based on our circumstances and that we can choose to turn it back on and maybe even be brighter than before. The book looks well-edited to me and earned a four star review. I didn’t notice any errors thus far. I’ve read several books similar to this one, so I will hold off for now. I’ll definitely come back to it at some point because I like the genre and I find it helpful when others share their experiences.

The author shares her experience of chronic illness to encourage people to stay strong and positive, to be determined, and to never give up in the face of adversity. I am not a fan of non-fiction books, so I would not have read the book without The First Ten program. I did not change my mind after reading the OBC review and sample. Sadly, the sample only includes the introduction and table of contents; therefore, I cannot say if the book was professionally edited. To intrigue the reader, I would suggest that the author include two or three pages in the sample. However, I like the eye-catching cover, and the Amazon blurb gives enough information to understand what this book is about. Also, it has great Amazon ratings. I am not interested in self-help books, but this inspirational memoir sounds a must-read for those who need hope and encouragement to push through the struggles of life.

If I had not been a member of this program, it is unlikely that the title, author, or genre would have attracted me to this book. The title indicates that it is aimed toward (possibly) spiritual healing, which is not a strong interest of mine. The genre suggests this as well. The author is unknown to me, so that did not affect my decision. If I had seen the cover alone, I might well have felt prompted to give it a look because the cover looks very much as if the book might be in the fantasy genre, which is one of my favorites. Alas, both the blurb and the customer reviews further reveal it to be not just a self-help book, but something of a memoir as well. This is another genre I tend to stay away from. Personal experience has taught me that I do not tend to enjoy memoirs. I did find a review from this program on the book's Amazon page. It, as well as other reviews, was very positive. However, as the subject and genre of the book are not really of interest to me, the review from this program influenced me no more than any of the others. Reading the sample did not lead me to want to continue the book. The only two things included in it were the table of contents and a brief introduction. There was absolutely no content of the book itself beyond the introduction. Therefore, it was impossible for me to get any feel for the book itself. I did like the author's positive attitude toward healing, as revealed in the introduction, and truly wish I could have seen at least a bit of the book itself in the sample. As is, however, I have made the decision not to continue to read the book. The book seemed to be well-edited. I found no errors in the sample.

I find the subtitle to be a bit long, but the book’s cover is eye catching and seems relevant to the topic. The author’s story is compelling, and what she is sharing has obviously worked for her. In a rare occurrence, I looked to the featured OnlineBookClub review to help me decide whether to buy this book. The concept that we are made up of body, soul, and spirit is consistent with my Christian faith. I was curious to find out how the author approached the spirituality aspect in her book. The review indicated that it did not stress one religious belief, thereby making it accessible to a wide audience. I appreciate that approach so that the author can help as many people as possible, but I will not buy the book. I would personally invest my time in a book of this nature that has a Christian focus. I did not notice any grammatical errors in the sample pages.

I chose to read the sample based on the description of The Other Side of Healing. It seemed to be a book about spiritual healing, and I wanted to see if my hunch was correct. What I noticed first about the book was how the author uses her personal experience with autoimmune disorders. I liked this part of the book the most, as my mother suffers from 3 autoimmune disorders. Because I found that I can relate to the book personally, I will be reading this one soon. I did not dislike anything about the book; it is perfect the way it is. I did not see any grammatical errors in the sample that I read either. The Official OnlineBookClub Review provided a lot of information about The Other Side of Healing, and this has positively influenced my decision to read this book.

The cover looks great, but it doesn't intrigue me enough to check this book out. The review didn't convince me this was more special than any other book in the genre. The sample is brief and it talks about how illness can strike unexpectedly and how strong is the will to recover. I wasn't persued by the sample to continue reading. I'm not usually reading books about illness. It's professionally edited.

I was drawn to the cover and title of this book. They book have a very positive message for those who are experiencing or have experienced trauma in their lives. I think the title would attract the appropriate audience and is very well done. I haven’t read a review of this book yet. The sample of this book was very positive. The author described trauma she experienced in a health matter and how she was able to heal from it. She explains that any trauma could be handled in a similar way by focusing on body, mind and spirit. I didn’t see any errors in the sample, so I believe the book was professionally edited. I like the message this book sends and I like the author’s writing style. I think I could benefit from this book and would like to finish it.

I would not have sampled this book based on the title, the book cover, or the genre, as I am not interested in self-help books related to health. I will not read this book, as I found it boring, and not close to my interests. I am not interested in books related to healing, self-help, or spirituality, so it would have been a waste of time to read this book. I did not find an error in the sample I read, so the book must have been professionally edited. What I liked most about this book was that the author was original in her story. The author described things in an original manner, showing that she actually lived the events she is writing about. To improve, the author must add more suspense, tension, and emotion to her book by adding more linguistic devices and better narrative techniques. The book had an Official OnlineBookClub review, but this did not affect my opinion.

Total ~ 23%
The Other Side Of Healing earned a score of 23%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 23% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
