The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Behind Broken Glass Walls
Because Behind Broken Glass Walls was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

Wow, just reading the book blurb gave me chills. Having lived in Colorado during Columbine, school shootings always stir up memories and feelings, and thus, I'm always compelled to read more and more about them in an attempt to understand. This being told from the other perspective (the attacker) is very interesting, and I would definitely read this book.
The first ten pages caught my attention. The writing is succinct and void of any errors. I was immediately drawn into the story where the first page immediately reveals who the "bad guy" is going to be. I would read this story.

When I first read the OBC review for 'Behind Broken Glass Walls,' I was impressed with the reviewers positive comments about the writing style and message. However, I've read quite a few books about the topic of bullying, and I don't know that I'm eager to read more of them. That being said, I wouldn't have purchased this one blindly. After reading the first ten pages for this program, I agree with the reviewer that the writing is effortless and easy to follow, and the story seems engaging from the start. However, I'm still uneasy about the topic, and therefore, I don't plan to read any more of this book. However, I can see how this one would appeal to a wide audience. I didn't notice any grammatical errors in the sample.

The cover is fairly unappealing, but the title is grabbing, as well as the genre. By reading the blurb, my interest is piqued. The OBC reviewer started to sway me to sampling this book in some ways. However, due to the abuse mentioned in this read, I would not have sampled this read on my own. Based on what I read, the book does seem to be edited well. I really liked how the author captured the mom's feelings and thoughts about her daughter as a shooter; it was powerful and captivating. I am fascinated by tragedies and understanding the reason why. Overall, since it was captivating and it was a free book, I do plan on finishing this read.

Had I not sampled the book, I would not have read it. I usually read pure romance books. Having read the sample, I liked how the author described the characters' thoughts and feelings. However, I found the writing a little formal. The book seems professionally edited. It has a favorable Onlinebookclub review. While it seems like a good book, since I do not read the genre usually, I will not be reading the book further.

When I see the cover, I think I am going to read this book becuase I think that it will be somehwat of a novel about going through your darkest secrets. Drachea seems to have a deep background story and it makes me want to read the book. It seems profesionally edited. I did not see a review, and I don't think that would've affected my decision.

Firstly, I love the included disclaimer. A big "Thank You" to the author for it.
This isn't my typical read, and I wasn't a fan of the style, so I don't intend to continue with it. I didn't notice any errors. The cover is very nice, very eye-catching. I would recommend it for readers of this particular genre.

I was immediately drawn to the subject matter of this book so I definitely would have chosen to read/sample this book had it not been for this First Ten program. The book was free so I did download and I do plan to read the whole thing eventually. The book really grabs the reader right from the start with the prologue. I don't think I've read that good of a prologue in a long time. As I said, the subject matter alone made me want to read this. As a mother, I cannot fathom the thought of ever stopping loving my child, no matter what they may have done. It's easy to tell that the author thoughtfully confronts just that reality in this book. Regarding the editing, it seemed good. I did not notice any typos or glaring grammatical errors. (Note: This book was officially reviewed on OBC)

I like the cover and the title. The customer reviews are positive but after reading the blurb I most likely would not have sampled this book without this program. The OnlineBookClub review is what has made me decide to read the book. After reading the first ten pages, I still want to read it. The OnlineBookClub reviewer said that there are editing errors. I will overlook them since the book was so highly recommended.

I would have sampled this book based on the genre, blurb, title, cover and OBC review. It seemed like an interesting book that I could get into. After reading the first ten pages, I will be finishing this book. I like reading about Oceana and Drachea. So far I really enjoyed their characters. The only downfall I've noticed so far is the overuse of the characters' names. It did seem to be professionally edited.

The cover and title caught my attention right away. Also, the prologue and the Amazon description made me anxious to read more. Unfortunately, the remainder of the sample was disappointing. I felt like the author kept repeating the same thought over and over just in different ways. Therefore, the sample felt like it wasn't progressing. In conclusion, I will not finish reading this book.

From the cover, blurb, and review of the book I probably wouldn't have given the book a chance. It isn't the type I would usually read. After reading the first ten pages I didn't change my mind. Not only was the subject matter not really interesting to me but I really didn't like the author's style. I will likely not be reading the rest of the book. Despite the style, the book did look professionally written and edited.

The cover is absolutely beautiful. The sample was perfectly suitable for assisting me in wanting the book. The subject matter is abuse and so I feel that it is a very appealing book, especially in spreading the notion of how bullying can affect someone's life.

I wouldn't have sampled this based on the cover, title or description. I also won't read the rest because I don't want to read about abuse and violence. I noticed some homophone errors such as "passed" instead of "past", and apostrophe errors, so that this does not appear to have been professionally edited. I liked the parts that involved telling best and those that involved showing least - examples of how her father talked to her could have been interesting. I did see an official OnlineBookClub review.

Based on the cover I would have read this book without the program. The OBC review definitely convinced me that this emotionally charged read is right up my alley, just a bonus that it's YA. After sampling I can say I will be finishing this book. It is gripping from the start and just the type of read that I love.

I love this cover. It is what attracted me to the book in the first place. The blurb and OBC review proved this book is not in one of my preferred genres. Reading the first ten changed my mind. I will be finishing this book because I am intrigued by the story itself coming from the mother's viewpoint. The opening was great but was followed by a large amount of explaining, which dulled the story. I felt some of that information could have been worked in later. Nonetheless, I'm going to check the rest of the book out.

This is a book in the young adult genre. It deals with serious issues like emotional and physical abuse, and deals with it in a sensitive fashion. The review and description were useful in figuring out what the book was about. Its not a fluffy story of a teenager, but tries to explore real issues faced by teenagers. The editing of the book could have been better. Though I found the book interesting, I think I'll be skipping this one, as I'm already in the middle of another book.

Interesting cover. It does not really draw me in, but I like the title. The blurb and review both reinforce that this is my type of novel. I started reading the ten pages, and was hooked before the end of the second page. The story starts with action and raises a lot of things to consider, particularly how would you feel if your child was to bring about such devastation. Basically it is every parents worst nightmare turned into reality. I am definitely going to continue with this book. I love reading about things that really do occur in society, but people prefer not to think or talk about. The writing flows well, however, I am aware the OBC review does raise the issue of multiple grammatical errors within the book. This said, I did not come across any in the short amount I have read thus far

The cover is colorful and eye catching, and the review by OBC would make me want to explore further. I usually read young adult books and like things with a bit of substance.
I found the repetitive use of the main character's first name a bit off putting but if I could get past that I'd read the rest.

I don't normally read from this genre and I would easily avoided this book were it not for this program. Young Adult genre, according to me, is not dynamic - much of the same story over and over. The official OnlineBookClub review was nice but didn't convince me. The prologue of the book was nice. It set the pace for an anticipated read. But, as soon as I started I met the usual arguments/conflicts about fitting in and coming of age stories I've come to loath. I now have a free copy, and I appreciate the author for the opportunity. I might just come to like it.

The cover and the summary attracted my attention, I like that the summary is concise without revealing too many details. Judging by the first 10 pages, the book seems well edited and formatted. The prologue is a great introduction, but I was a bit disappointed the first chapter started with a typical (cliche) ''breakfast'' scene. Thanks to great reviews, I'd like to read the rest.

The topic of this book made me really want to sample it. The cover art is also really well done. Unfortunately, the repetitive and redundant writing style did no make me want to continue. The over use of the characters first names became annoying and I kind of thought they had stupid names, so that was even more annoying. The character of the mother also seemed fake and kept making her daughter's violent actions all about her, the mother.

The cover of this novel is captivating. Although I am unsure of how I feel about the title, I would still pick up the book to explore, as I am a fan of YA novels. There were a couple of errors in the book that I noticed, so I do not think that this book was professionally edited. Examples follow:
Location 121 - matter should be manner.
Location 137 - care should be car.
The Official OnlineBookClub review aided in my decision to continue reading this book in the future.

The author's writing style is engaging, and it's easy to get sucked in to this sad story. The book is professionally edited. I can't identify with the main character and how she loves her daughter in spite of what the daughter has done without thinking about the consequences of her actions.

After reading a few pages of, Behind Broken Glass Walls, I have decided that I will be finishing this book. When I first saw this book, I didn't think that it would be for me. The cover didn't appeal to me, and after reading the blurb, I was sure I wouldn't like it. I have to say though, that once I started reading this book, it drew me in. I don't think that if I had not read a sample of this book that I would have even considered it. I like how the author switches up on the characters. How we are seeing the story from the mother's perspective and then the daughter's. I have found that that is something I appreciate in a story. Based on what I have read this book does appear to be professionally edited. This book does have an official OnlineBookClub review, and the review engaged my curiosity. I want to know how the story ends.

I really like this cover page. With the tie in to the title, I thought it might be a book about depression. I would pick this up to find out more. The Onlinebookclub review was great, giving a heads up about the difficult topics of abuse. The pages which I read were immediately interesting and the title was explained right away with great imagery. I found an editorial error where care is used instead of car. I like the style of writing and will continue to read this book. I would recommend another go through with the editor.

The book cover is a work of art, I would have sampled it based on the cover alone. The book review did not give a specific synopsis in that this is the point of view of a mother whose child has killed other children. The prologue was a good read. Usually, I skip prologues but this one was relevant, short and necessary. It gave good directions on how a reader would approach the book. Chapter 1 was a good start. I didn't notice any typos or grammar errors in the sample I read. Knowing the synopsis of the book, it was difficult for me to decide whether to finish reading it, since it is very emotional. However, given the sample and the cover, I will.

I really like the cover, it seems to convey all the pain and powerful themes discussed in the book. However, after reading the blurb and the review, I don't think this book is for me. It seems very graphic and hard to read and right now I really am trying to read light-hearted books which this book clearly is not light. However, I do think the messages are important and am sure that it would be a great read for a lot of people.

Behind Broken Glass Walls by N.M. Aaroones shows the reader the characters of Oceana the single mom whose daughter Drachea an honor student has a best friend Emmalynne. Drachea is bullied by Sutton who is the jock who is the main bully. Because Drachea would not change to fit in, she became an outcast.
I did get the book and plan to finish it.
One correction to be made.
"Drachea's silence in the (car) not care was unusual."
Bullying has become a major problem in our society and we have to do something about it now.

The cover and title are very gripping. I may have sampled this book without the first ten pages program just to see what it was about. However, I did not enjoy the sample. I found the intro to be a bit over dramatic and self-centred. It appeared that the main character, Oceana, was more concerned that her daughter didn't consider the impact her actions would have on her mother than about the main impact of her actions; the death of other children. The OBC review was very positive and reading further past the intro helped improve my thoughts about this book. I am still on the fence about reading any further though. At the moment, I do not plan to read this book any further.

I was not interested in reading this book before I read the sample pages because I read the review in the forum and the plot of the book reminded me of Thriteen Reasons Why. After I read the sample pages, I did not change my mind. The story seems to be about a girl who gets bullied and has been emotionally and verbally abused so she decides to kill people. I know all of this information just from reading the sample pages, meaning the author gave everything away pretty fast. I also did not like the writing style. In addition, the book does not seem professionally edited.

Although the cover of this book is very moving, it probably would not have moved me to look into the book had it not been for this program. As I learned more about the book, it seemed like the subject matter would be relevant, and, if well executed, potentially helpful for a lot of grieving people. That said, it isn't right for me. Even after reading the first ten pages, I didn't feel compelled to change my mind, so I'm letting this book pass.

"Behind Broken Glass Walls" is a well written fiction. Oceana is a single mother. After reading its review on OnlineBookClub, I decided to read the sample. I found the story quite depressing, so, I would not like to read the entire book. Despite a decent plot, I did not find the story interesting.
Further, I did not like the cover of the book. Also, the book is not nicely formatted.

After reading almost half of the book, I cannot stop my tears flowing. This story about a single mother who is raising her teenage daughter touched my innermost soul. They say that nothing compares to a mother’s love. This book proved this cliché to be true. This melancholic story is well-written and the characters are well-described and mannered to awaken our sleeping emotions. I strongly recommend this book to everybody because bullying is everybody's concern.

I'd seen this book before and was really intrigued by it, so I'm happy that not only was it the book of the day so other folks would notice it, it's free! I excitedly dove in, the tiny bit of reluctance knowing how emotional the book would be overpowered by my curiosity. The introduction was very powerful, giving a brief look at the school shooting by Oceana's daughter and her emotions as she watched it happen. The first chapter was powerful in its own way as well, building the relationships between Oceana, her daughter and her ex husband. Here nothing seemed wrong at all until the very end of the first ten pages, where the first hint of disaster lay beneath a silent, reclusive daughter on the way to school. While the writing seemed a little repetitive (mentioning the names of both women frequently while building the backstory), I can't see passing up such an emotional story when I'm up to it.

I was intrigued by the cover of this book which is very eye-catching. The summary blurb appears to be professionally edited; however, I found the subject matter a bit disturbing. I didn't notice any errors in the sample pages, although many of the sentences are long-winded. I am not too interested in reading further based on the writing style.

The cover and the title of this book are attractive and did grab my attention. However, after reading the first few pages I'm not so sure about this book. It fails to catch attention and I don't feel like continuing with it. The writing style seems mundane and does not make an impression. I haven't yet read any reviews regarding it, however, I will surely take a peek into the reviews if I think about getting any further with it.

I wouldn't have sampled the book on my own, as it isn't the sort of book I normally gravitate to. The cover is appealing and the blurb informative and concise. The sample opened with mother watching a vid of the shooting, and it portrayed her feelings rather well. I didn't notice any major errors, but some sentences were awkwardly written. It sounds like a powerful and touching tale. However, I won't read the balance of the book, as abuse stories are too difficult for me to stomach. The positive OBC review didn't affect my decision.

Total ~ 55%
Behind Broken Glass Walls earned a score of 55%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 55% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
