The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Knightfall
Because Knightfall was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

The cover of this book is beautiful! I realized this was part of the Nightlord series. I read that book and enjoyed it. I read the first few pages of this book. It is captivating with unique characters. I'll be reading this one to follow up the other books in this series.

Based on the cover I wouldn't have read this book because it looks like another fantasy that I don't think I'd like. I didn't see an OBC review and it might have helped. However after sampling and seeing it is another one of the series by this author I may pick it up in the future to read. It reads well but I don't think I could read it without finishing the others in the series.

I've enjoyed reading short stories by this author, but since I've not been able to finish the first novel in this series yet, I haven't been purchasing the others in the series. Once I determined that this book was the fourth installment of the series, I wasn't planning to purchase it. The first ten pages seem like they're maintaining the overall tone and style that I've come to expect from the novel, but I'm not planning to buy number 4 before I even come close to the end of number 1.

'Knightfall' is the fourth installment in the 'Nightlord' series. After reading the first book, I enjoyed the author's writing style and the novel's pacing. I would consider reading this installment after I read the next two, as long as I enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the first in the series that is. I am very intrigued by the cover! Hopefully the other two books will standout and I will make it to 'Knightfall.' At this point, I do not plan on buying this book. As I said, I will have to finish the first two that come before 'Knightfall.' I did not notice any grammatical errors in the beginning sample.

I think I will be reading this book because it seems interesting from the title, and the previous books were filled with action. The action in this book is huge, and it looks like it's filled with so much plot and story that you won't be able to put it down. It seems professionally edited. I did not see any review, and I don't think that would affect my decision.

This looks just as interesting as the rest, and I'm hoping to try the series soon. I love this cover.
There were a few errors, but minor overall.
I can't say that I'll be getting this right now, but if I enjoy the series as much I hope I will (and this is made available as a physical book) I'll be reading it eventually. Though, as I won't be purchasing this today, I must answer no.

The cover design of this book would have made me read the sample. I would not buy this book without first buying the first ones in the series. It looks to be professionally edited. I read the official review, but it did not sway me one way or the other. The sample is what drew me in and made me want to purchase the whole series.

I would not have sampled this book without this program based on the genre and the fact that it is part of a series. I sampled the first books in the series previously, and they weren't of interest to me, so I didn't think this one would be either. After reading the first ten pages, I won't be buying this book. I think the author uses great description, but the content isn't for me. This would be a great book and series for someone who is into fantasy, but not for me. It did seem to be professionally edited.

The cover of the book is exciting and very well made. After reading the sample, the plot was as exciting as the cover. The book jumped right into the middle of a scene and we learn a lot about the main character such as what he is, his feelings and his need for revenge. This book was a very interesting read.

I love the cover of this book, it is colorful and good quality. I love the way in which this author tells the story. In this case the main character narrates his version of the story and allows the reader to have the background of the story and to make their own conclusions about the character. I appreciate this way of narration. Due to lack of time, in this moment I would not be able to read the book, so I wouldn't buy it. But it goes into my list.

If I had not read the sample, I would have read the book but only after reading the previous books. I really like the cover. After reading the sample, I have not changed my mind. The writing was interesting, but I did feel a little lost because I had no previous context. It was professionally edited. I did not read an official review, but this did not affect my decision.

After reading the preview of Knightfall by Garon Whited I knew that I had to purchase this one to add to my 2017 reading list. I loved the humor that came through in this story. When two of the characters were getting up it looked like an avalanche in reverse. Good one and the other I put my foot so far up the backside that my toenails tickled his brainstem. Excellent storytelling as always. Garon has done it again. He is at the top of my favorite authors.

I purchased the book based on the preview.

• If I hadn’t sampled the first ten pages, I definitely would’ve downloaded this one. So reading the first 10 pages didn’t change my mind. The cover is beautiful and I love fantasy. The title is catchy, the description drew me to the book, and made me want to read it. Reviews were also favorable and helpful. I will also plan on buying the whole book, but will have to go back and get the others first. The first 10 pages were great, the plot got going right away, no typos. My favorite part was the first sentence. Way to open with action. I love when books do that. There was no review yet. The lack of review probably did stop me from finding the series. I tend to look through the forums for fantasy suggestions an since it wasn’t there, I didn’t know about it. As a personal preference, I think more spacing between paragraphs would be great. Because it’s single line spacing, a person like me who has dyslexia, gets a little overwhelmed without the extra space between paragraphs.

Had I not sampled the book, I would not have read it. I do not read the genre usually and I have not read the first three books in the series. Having read the sample, my opinion remains. The cover of the book grabbed my attention and I liked the author's writing style. The characters' thoughts and feelings have been described well. However, I found the pace of the plot a little slow. The book seems professionally edited. I did not come across an onlinebookclub review for the book, but I do not think that the absence of one affected my decision. Since I do not read the genre, I will not be reading the books of this series.

At first glance, I really like the cover art of this novel and I thought the blurb was adequately written. I enjoyed reading the first ten pages as it was very well-written, easy-to-read, and professionally edited. I liked the quote in the beginning and the disclaimer. I will add this book to my to-read list, but I do not intend to download it today because I have not read the rest of the series yet.

I love the cover of this book. Although I am a huge fan of fantasy and this book sounds so interesting, it is part of a series and is already the fourth book. I feel like I wouldn't understand any of this because I would need to start from the beginning. This book is also very long so I don't think I would be able to get into it right now. But fantasy lovers would definitely like this.

My sampling of this book was very pleasant. If I were not a part of the First Ten program, I would have sampled the fourth Nightlord book due to my familiarity with the author's previous three books that the Online Book Club community has started. I was genuinely curious about how the fourth book would start, and I loved reading it. The word choices and sentence structures were very easy to read. I didn't feel the urge to skim through the first ten pages at all. My favorite part of the sampling was the main character's description of the looks that he was getting while traversing the undermountain city. I found it funny. I will definitely purchase and read this book. There were no typos or grammatical errors.

The first thing one notices about the book, is its stunning cover. However, beyond the cover, I can't say it appealed to me much. This is the fourth book in the series, so a major chunk of the story is over. In fact, calling it a story is a gross understatement. This book itself spans over a thousand pages. Thus, combined with the other books, this series is of epic proportion. The book seems to be professionally edited. The protagonist is a half-wizard, half-vampire king. The plot seems pretty refreshing and the story progresses smoothly. I wish there was an official review to help me decide whether to peruse the book. The length, and the fact that this book gives no idea about what happened in the previous books, is slightly discouraging. Hence, I'll not be finishing this one.

I've enjoyed everything I've read by Garon Whited, so there's no way I'd let one of his books go by without checking it out. This one has been no exception so far, with a lead that's been put through some terrible stuff! I'm very interested to see how he'll go about getting his revenge, and I would've kept reading for the "safe space" comment alone. It'll be a while as I still have the rest of the series to read first, but I'll definitely be reading it afterward!

I don't know why,but I am quiet unable to understand the plot, which holds me from buying the book. From those 10 pages, the only thing I understood was, the novel is based on a vampire's life. I searched for the review too but didn't find one.

I have yet to read anything by this author, but being a member of OBC it's hard to not notice the name floating around from time to time. Having this little bit of familiarity with the books made me more interested in trying this book out. The genre is one I normally like and the cover is nice. Not sure why it's so different from the other three books in the series though. I enjoyed the writing style of the first ten pages, they were easy to read and flowed well. Honestly, I tried to read them without paying too much attention to the information given since this is the fourth book in a series and I don't want any spoilers for the series. The only slight turn-off is the length of the book and the rest in the series. Because this is the last book in a series, I can't promise that I will buy the book and read it eventually. But it has certainly inspired me to check out the first book of the series and if i like that one then I will continue.

The biggest problem for these pages, for me, was the fact that it started right in the middle of something. I know the description warned me that "It picks up exactly where the previous book ends," but I still had an issue with it. However, it is interesting enough for me that I am going to download it and read it after I check out the previous books in the series. I want to know what happens, but first I need to what happened before this book.

The cover, blurb, and description of this book were appealing but solely because I don't consume a lot of fantasy novels of this kind, I probably would not have picked this book up; It wasn't enough to convince me. The first ten pages did not convince me to change my mind, but I can definitely see this book being a gem for those that are into high-fantasy. I liked the cheeky banter and the fun dialogue presented in the sample and had I known what was going on (as this is the fourth book in the series I was quite lost) I probably would have enjoyed it more. The book looks very well written and edited but despite all of this I will not be buying and reading the rest of the book. The lack of an official OBC review did not affect my decision at all.

I absolutely love the cover of this book. The summary blurb is well written in a nice, witty style. The sample pages are interesting with the same touch of humor, and I didn't notice any errors. That being said, I am not planning to read the rest of the book for a few reasons - A) I haven't read the previous books and don't like starting in the middle of a series; and B) I am not a fan of vampire themes, paranormal, or fantasy. Although I like the author's writing style, I am going to pass on this one.

I probably wouldn't have sampled the book on my own as I didn't read the previous books in the series. The cover is awesome and the blurb concise and to the point. I understand that this book picks up where the previous one ended. As I didn't read previous books, I found it hard to get into the tale. The beginning was a bit slow (and too busy due to the self-reflections) and failed to capture me as a result. Anyway, as this is the fourth book in the series, I think one would need to read the others in the series before starting this one. As I didn't read the other books, I will not be buying the book today.

I have read quite a few books by this author and definitely am interested in checking this book out as well. The cover caught my attention, as well as the title, though I wish the name of the author stuck out more. It seems really interesting and falls squarely into a genre I enjoy. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a review from OBC and didn't really catch my attention with the opening of the book, so I won't be getting a copy right now. Maybe in the future.

The cover looks very exciting and the title is catchy. The blurb is concise, however, it doesn't give much away. I do love a good fantasy, but since this is a fourth in the series, and I haven't read the two prior to this one, I would not have sampled this read without this program.
Based on what I read, the book does seem to be professionally edited. I like how the author uses a clear and inviting character tone in the beginning of the book; it gives the sense that Eric is a likable character. However, since I have not read the two books prior to this one, I do not plan on purchasing this read. I feel I would get lost easily without much background of the series. However, the others have done well, and I am positive there will be a lot of positive feedback here.

Total ~ 33%
Knightfall earned a score of 33%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 33% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
