The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Creature Of Habit
Because Creature Of Habit was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.
Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.
This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

I really loved this sample and have downloaded the book to finish reading. Amelia is a character that I can definitely grow to absolutely love! I didn't see any errors in the sampling, and I like the author's writing style. I didn't see an official OBC review, but I already fell in love with the book so I didn't need anymore influence to finish it!

Creature of Habit by Angel Lawson surprised me. I was not immediately gripped by the cover, and the book's description made it sound like just another vampire novel. I was encouraged by some of the positive reviews I read, but I didn't see one from the Online Book Club, so I probably would not have picked this book to read. Reading the first ten pages changed my mind! In fact, I couldn't stop at just ten; I kept reading through the first few chapters. The book was engaging, somewhat mysterious, and very well-written. It was easy to read, and it had definitely been edited and proofread well. I will be reading more of this one for sure!

Had I not sampled the first ten pages as part of this program, I would have chosen to read or sample this book because I do love a good vampire novel, and I was impressed by the overwhelmingly positive ratings on Amazon.
The book was free so I did download it and I do plan on reading the whole book eventually. I found myself enjoying it so much that I read well past the first ten pages.
The book seems to be well-edited. I did not notice any typos/grammatical errors.
The writing in this book is so engaging. As soon as I started reading, I was IN the story. The writing is not stiff at all, and I could see the action in my mind...like a movie. I'm very impressed.
This book did not have an official OBC review. However, that did not affect my decision.

The description of this book caught my attention. This appears to be a vampire novel, but unlike others that have been written recently. I enjoy the Twilight series and similar books. I read the first few pages of the book to see if it would interest me. The characters and setting are vividly described. The book seems to be written in a slightly different style than other vampire novels. I look forward to reading this one.

From the description and OBC official review, I did not think I would like this book as I am not a fan of vampire novels. The first ten pages hooked me though. I am interested in finding out what will happen next. I love the alternating viewpoints. The book also seems to be professionally edited.

I probably would not have sampled this based on the blurb and genre. The book was described as a dark fantasy, which doesn't usually peak my interest. The blurb mentioned vampires and I haven't enjoyed a book about vampires in a long time. I also noticed that there was not an OBC review. I have been hesitant to read books lately before I read the review. However, after reading the first ten pages, I changed my mind. The prologue didn't really catch my interest. I wanted to stop reading after the prologue because it got into killing too fast. I'm glad that I read the first ten actual pages of the book. I found myself not wanting to stop reading. The story really drew me in. There was a lot of mystery in the first two chapter, and I was intrigued. This is definitely one of those times when I am glad I am a part of this program.

A new vampire series? I'm ready! The first ten pages of this book sort of let me down, but I still have full faith that I will enjoy reading this one! And that cover? I love it! I look forward to seeing what else this author has to offer!

This book seemed fairly interesting when I saw it. I wasn't too clear about what to expect, and in that respect, a review would have been very helpful. The first ten pages really reinforced the Dracula/Batman vibe I got from the blurb. I'm still not entirely sure how this one will go, but I don't think I have anything quite like it on my list, so I'm going to go ahead and add it.

I understand how the cover fits, however, without knowing anything about the book, it's misleading. The premise is one that would interest me, so if I had looked at it despite the cover, I would have been interested. I like the style of the writing, and I didn't notice any errors.
I like Grant. He's the type of character I believe I could enjoy. If I didn't have so much I want to read right now I would likely be interested. As it is, it's possible that I'll be more interested at a later date, but it's presently a no.

I think I would've read this book even if it wasn't for The First Ten program because I am interested in vampires very much. I think I am going to read the whole book because it seems like a good plot going on so far. It is also very easy to read, with easy vocabulary. It did not change my original guess, it just made me want to read it more, because of how she got a job which seems fishy. It seems like it was professionally edited. I loved how the writer gave us a prologue, which made the story intense. Something that could be improved would be more details. It had some lack of details in the book. I did not see an online book club review, and that still didn't change my decision. I love having mystery, so I rather not have much telling about the story.

I was glad to have the opportunity to sample this book and I liked it immediately. I was also happy it was the first in the series and there are others. The main character, Amelia, seems pleasant and likable and I think story is going to be interesting. The book appeared to be professionally edited and error-free.

First, I love the cover of the book. The title is interesting and creative. Before reading the first ten pages, I was interested by the cover but not interested enough to download it. However, after reading it, I am hooked and will definitely be buying it. I love how easy the story flows and how mysterious it is.

I really like the title of this book. I think it is creative and does remind me of vampires so it is very fitting for the genre. I don't think I would pick this book up though because it seems like a cross between the twilight series and 50 shades of grey. I don't have anything against those books but it is unoriginal and I like to read fresh new stories. After reading the first ten pages I will not continue reading the rest of the book mostly because I don't find it interesting.

The cover artwork and font used for the tite are both attractive. However, the words above the P are difficult to see and the design makes the last two words in the author's name almost disappear into the background. The Amazon summary blurb is well-written and gives a good flavor of the plot. Unfortunately, I don't care for dark fantasy books, particularly ones that include vampires. The beginning pages appear to be professionally edited and the writing has a nice flow. Based on the summary and genre, this is not a book I am interesting in reading.

I love the blood-splattered-yet-classy cover, so I probably would've been intrigued by this book no matter how I first discovered it. The intro is very intriguing, with the following couple chapters beginning to lead up to at least something very similar, but my interest has definitely been grasped. It's edited well, and the writing is very enjoyable as well with a fair balance between detail and not being dull. Especially since it was free, I'm sure I'll finish it sometime!

I love the cover, title, genre (dark fantasy), and the blurb. There are a good amount of positive reviews for this book, and even though there isn't a OBC review, I would have sampled this read on my own.
Based on the bit that I read, the book does seem to be professionally edited. Surprisingly, I really like the disturbing beginning when (I assume Grant) found the bloody scene. For some reason, I really like scenes like these in vampire stories, but not many others. Amelia thought she was interviewing in a multi-millionaire foundation does kind of remind me of 50 Shades of Gray. I can't decide if I like that or not, but that is the only 'issue' I see. Overall, I'm hooked (and it's free), therefore, I would love to give this book a full read.

Personally, I find the cover art of this book very pretty and the title is intriguing. After reading the blurb I could not find much that would differentiate this book from others in the same genre, but after finishing the first ten pages, I have to say I was hooked. This novel is well-written and professionally edited, the main character is automatically likable and the author does a great job of adding a sense of mystery in just the first two pages. I will definitely be reading the rest of this novel.

I may have sampled the book as I love the genre. The cover isn't very appealing, but the blurb sure piqued my interest. The sampled started well, with a murder of a woman by a rogue vampire, and immediately drawn me in. I liked the fact that the book is written from c POV. I liked the writing and enjoyed the sample, so will read the balance of the book eventually. I didn't see any official review, but will give the book a chance regardless.

The preview of today's book of the day. Creature of Habit by Angel Lawson enticed my interest. Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump my heart pounded as the words came into my imagination. Angel Lawson has her two main characters Amelia Chase and Grant Palmer about to meet. I could not just let the opportunity pass... Absolutely not. So with anticipation I have downloaded the book to find out just where that smell of lemons is coming from. Since Amelia does not wear that scent of perfume. I did enjoy the preview and look forward to finishing this novel. It appears that it has been professionally edited. I do like the cover. Thanks Angel Lawson for making this one free. I look forward to finding out more about Amelia and Grant.

I love how the cover of this book is elegant and antiqued, and yet splattered with what may be blood. The title didn't tell me much about what the story was about, but it is definitely very catchy. I am glad that there is a prologue, because it helps to set up what the book will eventually be about. The first part of the book is intriguing as you learn about a man through the eyes of someone else. I think this is definitely a book worth continuing to read.

Had I not sampled the book, I wouldn't have read it. It is not a theme that I generally read. Having read the sample, my opinion remains. I thought the book was well written and I could understand the characters' perspectives. However, I didn't like the pace at which the plot was moving. The book seems to be professionally edited. I did not come across an Onlinebookclub review for the book, but I don't think the absence of one affected my decision. The sample didn't make me curious enough to make an exception (for the theme) and hence, I will not be reading this book further.

This is a book I would definitley have been drawn to based on the title, cover and description. After reading the sample, I have downloaded the book for free and I plan to read it sometime. The opening sentence alone has me curious enough to want to read more : "He killed again".
I really love the Prologue as it drew me in and piqued my interest. I want to read more about the Hunter and the Predator. Why is he killing these women and what is the history between the two?
I didn't encounter any editing issues in the first 10 pages or at least none that stood out.

If I had not sampled the first ten pages of this book I could have gone either way with reading it. The cover is intriguing as well as the title, however, the genre and blurb make it sound very similar to many other books of this type. The good reviews on Amazon had me leaning a little more towards I would read at least a sample of this book. After reading the first ten pages, I am definitely going to finish the novel. I knew right after reading the prologue (maybe the first three pages?) that I was hooked on this book. The author grabbed me right from the get go with the grisly prologue. I want to know who these people are and why the predator and main character have such bad blood. I also want to know more about what types of creatures the characters are and what drives them. On top of all that, the writing is good and well edited. I didn’t find any areas in the first ten pages that I thought warrant improvement. I have not yet seen the official OnlineBookClub review for Creature of Habit, but I look forward to reading it.

Total ~ 78%
Creature Of Habit earned a score of 78%.
In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 78% plan to read the whole book.
IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.
Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
