The First Ten Focus Group Feedback for Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine

Because Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine was Book of the Day, some of our most trusted members have carefully looked over the cover, the description, and other aspects of this book as a part of purchase-intent focus group. We then asked each participant in the focus group if they planned to buy and read the book, and why they planned to buy and read the book or not. Their answer to that question and reasons are displayed below. We call this awesome feature The First Ten Focus Group.

Keep in mind, the responses from the members are not reviews. This is purchase-intent focus group which means the participants are people who have NOT yet bought or read your book. A purchase-intent focus group is an important and extremely useful marketing tool for any product, not just books. For other products, you might walk on the street and show people an item in a package and poll them about whether they would buy if or $X or not. These kind of focus groups are one of the ways big marketing companies find the ideal price points for products and test the effectiveness of different packaging. The focus group can help you identify your market so you how to target ads of your book, and it can (but may not) provide you new useful info about your "packaging" (e.g. your book cover, your book synopsis on Amazon, etc.). The point of the focus group comments is to give you information from people who have not bought or read your book about why they plan to buy your book which will help you in marketing the book. These are not reviews or critiques of your book because they are not from people have read the book. This is a marketing tool, not reviews. The trick of book marketing and book advertising is that you have to convince people who have not read your book yet that your book is worth buying and reading. For marketing, it doesn't matter much if people love your book after reading it if you cannot convince potential buyers before they read it that they will love it.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable. This is because we only poll about 20 or so readers, and all readers have to say "no" to almost all books. Over a million books are published each year. Even a very active reader cannot come close to even reading 1% of books out there.

This is also why publishing books is such a tough industry.

Before I even read the first ten pages of this book, I was already interested because of who the author is. This one seems a bit more out there than her other novels that I have read, but I am so looking forward to it already! I downloaded my copy and found no errors throughout what I read so far. This one is getting moved to the top of my list!

The cover is not attractive and would have detered me from taking a second look if not for this program. The description is weirdly interesting and the sample was hilarious to say the least. I like the quirky take on the afterlife that's for sure. I can't recall any glaring editing issues.

I don't think I would be reading this book because I am not into erotic books. I am not going to be reading this book because the plot just isn't my type of book. It seems like it was professionally edited. I liked the comedy in the book though. There could be more of a before story like in the beginning of the book. I did not see a review, and I don't think it would affect my decision.

After reading the blurb and reviews for "Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine" I was excited to sample this book. The book sounds like a witty take on the afterlife. After sampling the beginning, I am hooked and can't wait to finish. The writing style is easy to read and flows nicely. I like that the book is humorous yet also dramatic. I did not notice any editorial errors in the beginning sample. I have already downloaded the rest of the book and look forward to finishing the story.

The cover of this one was very interesting, and I love a good, short funny book, but I'm not a fan of erotica. As such, if this wasn't free and a book of the day I wouldn't have tried it out. I'm glad I did though - while there's some adult humor and such it's far less than I'd have assumed. Heck, some fiction books have surprised me with more naughtiness than this book has had so far. Since I'm already a quarter of the way done with the book and it's free, I'll certainly finish this one sometime!

This book has a crazy yet eye-catching cover. I love all the colors. The summary of the book immediately caught my attention. The OnlineBookClub review encouraged me, even more, to want to purchase this book after describing life after death as a green room. Fascinating. Upon sampling the first bit of the book, I couldn't help but be slightly emotional reading about Bonnie leaving her body and her husband with her friend Dee. It was sad. I am curious to see what happens, though. I did not observe any typos in the sample and will definitely be getting this book to finish reading.

The author's style is fun and quick, and I noticed no errors. This is not my reading preference, so I would not have looked at it, and the writing didn't change my mind. I won't be continuing.

The cover is a bit bright, while the title does not really appeal to me. Also, I'm not sure how I feel about the content of the story after reading the blurb. Though both the customer reviews and the OBC one are positive, I would not have sampled this read without this program.

Based on what I read, the book does seem to be professionally edited. I really like how gripping the beginning is. The author pulled me right in as Bonnie is trying to be revived, but doesn't make it. Honestly, I am really enjoying this read, which I wasn't sure if I would. Therefore, due to its gripping beginning, I do plan on finishing this book.

At first glance I was excited to sample this book. The cover is eye catching and the OBC review made it sound like the story just pulled you right in from the beginning. After reading the first ten, I was disappointed that I couldn't connect with the story, and really get into it. I was a little confused about what was occurring, even though the OBC described it well, it was confusing to read. I didn't see any errors, but I will not be finishing this one.

This probably is not a book I would have chosen if not for this program. The combination of erotica and humor is not something that would have been likely to attract me. Nevertheless, I read the first ten pages, and I think I understand how some people might find it funny. I didn't particularly, which is why I don't plan to finish the book.

To be honest, I was skeptical about this book at first glance. However, I am hooked after reading the first two chapters. This book is professionally edited and written well. The OBC review increased my curiosity. The cover and title are definitely unique and creative. I can't wait to see what happens to Bonnie!

The first ten pages of this was very interesting and easy to read. It was interesting because of the introduction to the narrator's situation (her death). If I were not part of this program, I probably would've sampled it due to the thorough review of it on OnlineBookClub. The short story managed to exposit without being forced, so I will continue reading after purchasing it. There were no typos or grammatical errors.

I very well remember 1969 the year that I was a junior in high school. Woodstock was the rage and living in vermont I can remember the hippies. Today's book sounds like a good read. I did read the preview and the reviews. Since the readers sound happy with the story I did decide to add it to my 2017 reading list.

At first glance, I found the cover art of this book unprofessional, and I was not sure what to expect after reading the title. I thought the blurb gave the right amount of information without spoiling anything.
After reading the first ten pages, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book is professionally edited and adequately written. I liked that even though this story deals with death, it is not depressing. This book is not my cup of tea, therefore I do not intend to read the rest of it.

After reading the blurb, I don't think I would pick this up. I have read about stories where the character dies and there are afterlife choices they need to make, but this doesn't really sound like my cup of tea. After reading the first ten pages, I honestly wasn't really hooked into the story. I personally found it kind of boring and therefore will not read the rest.

If not for this programme, I probably would not have come across this book. If I had, being a fan of romance books and given the great reviews (including Onlinebookclub), I would have read it. Having read the sample, I liked the author's writing style. The sample was easy to read and followed a good pace. However, I would have liked to know more about the characters. The book seems to be professionally edited. The sample made me curious and hence, I think I will read the book further.

The cover is fun and whimsical and it made me want to know more about the book. The Amazon summary is witty and appears to be professional edited. I laughed at the phrase "Follow Bonnie on her erotically incorrect quest." I also enjoyed the beginning pages which have an easy, conversational flow and are very funny. It doesn't hurt that the book is short, so it's not a big commitment to read. Based on the positive revew, summary, and sample pages, I am interesting in reading the rest of this book.

This seems like a really strange book, and a comedy. The cover makes me think of the sixties and different points in history, and the blurb makes it found like it might be humorous. The review from OBC actually makes it sound really good, and some of the reviews do as well. It isn't really my cup of tea, but I was glad to check out the introduction to the book on Amazon. The writing is clean and interesting, and it is written in an almost playful style that makes it fun. All in all, I won't be continuing this book because my pile of books is too large, but I can see a lot of people really liking this one!

I most likely wouldn't have sampled the book without the program, as erotic romances aren't my usual read. This book sure sound like a fun read though. The blurb and the official review piqued my interest and the sampled had me hooked. The cover is lovely and the title sure is suggestive. It sure put a smile on my face. I enjoyed the sample and the disarmingly down-to-earth style of writing. I'm also curious to see what in store for our Bonnie, after she passed away and found herself in Purgatory, so will read the balance of the book.

Total ~ 58%

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine earned a score of 58%.

In other words, out of the top-level reviewers who read at least the first 10 pages of this book, 58% plan to read the whole book.

IMPORTANT: Any score over 10% is considered very good. And any score above 0% is acceptable.

Over a million books are published each year. Any given person could not even read .0001% of the books out there. This means readers have to be very selective. Even taking the time to look over reviews and blurbs, let alone read samples, is more time than most readers can afford for most books. The First Ten is a powerful focus group that addresses those issues. It creates a helpful tool for authors, publishers, and other readers.
