Love is the greatest commandment in the Bible. If you are a Christian, you will certainly want your children to grow up knowing that. Sometimes it may become a hard task to explain the concept of how God loves us yet created us differently. God Loves You! by Michele Hayes-Grisham points in this exact direction. It offers lessons about loving those around us and loving God. It also shows us the different ways in which God cares for us and which direction we should steer.

The book is just a few pages long, making it appropriate for young children who have short attention spans. The first few pages show God's love toward us and how unique people are. It also points to the Bible, the church, and the way in which God works, even today. There is even a message from God to us. The second part (the endnotes) provides the references, tying everything discussed in the first part to a Bible verse.

God Loves You! is illustrated by Sheila Preston-Ford. The watercolor pictures are splendid and represent each of the aspects discussed. These illustrations are only in the first part of the book. The brushstrokes and the delicate shading will be appealing to the children as they mirror their creativity, and I found that it presented the surroundings perfectly.

I found the first part to be more suitable for children. It subtly sinks them into the concept of love, differences between people, interacting with those around them, and even handling different emotions. Many grown-ups are confused and do not express their emotions correctly, usually taking out anger on others when they are just sad. I believe teaching children about such topics helps them understand how to express themselves.

The second part would serve adults as well. I found the Bible verses inspiring. The author even provided the page numbers to which each verse is applicable. A real-life story is also included.

God Loves You!: A Book to Read With Your Child by Michele Hayes-Grisham is exceptionally well edited, and the presentation of ideas and the topic are why I give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. There is nothing I did not like. Reading this book with your children might seem small, but it can make a meaningful difference in the world. This book is perfect for all children between 0 and 7 years.
