Heartaches is a sexy and twisted romance. Life of two opposite unpredictable individual which might change once they meet each other. Anna Simmons has a face of innocence. They see her as someone who lives a simple life, who experience shallow difficulties that most of her age encounter, but her life is not as simple as what it seems, what they know are lies. Rafe Brown is a sexy man with a gun, who came from a frightening battle abroad, returned to his country with shattered mind and soul. How will their strengths and weaknesses be triggered, could they handle the fight that they might lose at the end?

I liked the plot of the story, the series of events in every chapter was well written and not dramatic. As a reader, I didn’t feel that there was an omitted detail that was important in the story. What I didn't like was using excessive narration for few first chapters, I felt bored. Words were written in past tense which I prefer if it was in present tense, to feel the emotion for each event.

What I liked the most was the last chapter of the book, because that’s the time where my curiosity triggered asking what he was thinking, intrigue on what will happen next and, wonder the causes and effects of future actions. What I least liked from this book was the reactions and way of thinking of Rafe Brown from the beginning until the end.

I gave this book 3 out of 4 stars because it obtained my attention. There were minimal errors in sentences. One of my favorite genre that I loved reading.The story had good context. I didn't give 4, due to some of Anna's thoughts that I find incomplete. It was not 2 stars because the author showed the book's intention by demonstrating the reality of life. It expressed the feeling of despair between the lovers and gave individual's perspective on how to handle each dilemma and heart desires. It was not 1, due to thought well.

Readers from age bracket of 18-40 years old especially women who love romance, excitement and, passion. Conservative readers would least appreciate this kind of book due to sexual tension or vulgar words. Most men will not read it because of their nature as a man. Majority of them prefer action, thriller, out of ordinary stories and horror. Majority of younger readers love to read comedy and educational books.
