"Quest: Finding Freddie" by Thomas Richard Spradlin is a true story that reads like a thrilling adventure novel. It's a gripping account that follows a lawyer named Richard as he travels to Nigeria to find a missing businessman, Freddie Nachman, the president and CEO of Nachman International Trading Corporation (NITC). The book is based on real events, with the author using detailed records to recreate the story. The setting is Nigeria in 1979, a time of political unrest, which adds to the suspense and danger of the mission.

The book reveals that Freddie disappeared while on a business trip, and his wife, Ruth, is desperate to find him. Richard, working for a law firm (Clifford & Warnke), is tasked with this challenging case. As he digs deeper into the mystery, he encounters a web of intrigue, corruption, and danger. The story is filled with unexpected twists and turns as Richard navigates the unfamiliar territory of Nigeria, trying to piece together the puzzle of Freddie's disappearance.

One of the best things about this book is that it provides a thorough and narrow view of the Nigerian people. The author also provides an insight into the people of the country, its food, and its customs. Some parts of the novel are in Pidgin English, which gives it an air of credibility and makes it more interesting to read. Admittedly, there are additional facts in the footnotes; such notes are good for readers interested in more detailed information. I disliked nothing about the story, and for this reason, I’d rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

Overall, "Quest: Finding Freddie” would be of immense interest to those who would enjoy a real-life drama with a blend of a small portion of adventure. The plot is one that you’ll not fail to develop a lot of interest in as you continue to read through the book. That is why I recommend you read this book if you like true stories and thrillers and if you want to know more about Nigeria.
