What is fly fishing? I haven't heard about that before. That was my first reaction when I flipped through the pages of the book "The Reel Sisters" by Michelle Cummings. This book follows the story of Rose, Sophie, Veronica, Amanda, and Melody, who all love fly fishing. Sophie, who met Rose first in a fly shop, loved spending time at Rose's place during fishing weekends. Rose had introduced fly fishing to Sophie shortly after meeting her. Fly-fishing now became a get-away for Sophie for all her life struggles. Veronica ran a company whose goal was to help women achieve personal and professional goals. Veronica, met Sophie in an aeroplane as they both boarded the same flight. Sophie was on her way to one of her fishing trips; she quickly introduced fly fishing to Veronica. Veronica, who had difficulties at first understanding fly fishing, later grew in love for fly fishing as time passed. Veronica always picked up Amanda so they could go fishing together with the girls. Amanda was married to Mike, a military officer. For Amanda, fly fishing was a little escape from the family stress she faced whenever Mike was deployed.

Firstly, I want to say I loved how the author carefully broke down the intricacies of fly fishing. Before reading this book, I had never heard of fly fishing, but the author did a commendable job of describing it in a way that made me want to try it myself. I loved the escapism fly fishing provided this woman, despite them being of different age groups. They all looked forward to meeting up together in a cabin and fly fishing together while checking up on one another. This goes to show readers that a strong and healthy relationship can be built when people all share the same passion. I enjoyed the friendship these women shared. Each of them looked out for each other. All the characters in this book were developed properly. The author provided proper context and background stories so that readers could understand the interconnectedness between these characters.

Regarding ratings, I give this book a rating of four out of five stars. It did not get a perfect rating from me because of the book's pacing. It did not match the book's narrative and made it difficult for me to connect with the book. I found no grammatical errors in this book, as this book was edited exceptionally well. I recommend this book to readers who love books that explore themes of friendship.
