Unsettled Disruption by Juana Catalina Rodriguez is a timely and practical guide for innovators and disruptors in today's rapidly changing business landscape. With a step-by-step framework and real-life examples, Rodriguez provides valuable insights on how to navigate disruptive innovation and harness its power to drive meaningful change. The book begins by exploring the concept of disruptive innovation and why businesses must embrace it.

Rodriguez then dives into covering topics such as assessing industry trends, honing in on customer needs, value chain disruption, business model innovation, and the role of technology. Each chapter is filled with practical guidance and thought-provoking questions to help readers apply the concepts to their own organizations and the overarching themes of disruptive innovation and its transformative impact.

What stood out to me in this book was its capacity to prompt all readers to recognize the significance of business survival and staying competitive. In an ever-evolving landscape, businesses that resist embracing disruptive innovation face the danger of losing relevance or becoming obsolete. Embracing disruptive innovation enables companies to lead the pack, adjust to changing customer demands, and maintain relevance within the market. I recommend this book to entrepreneurs, business leaders, and professionals aiming to steer their organizations toward sustainable growth amidst rapid industry changes.

What I disliked about this book was its “Blockbuster” story. Blockbuster faced challenges in adapting to changing customer preferences and behaviours. The rise of online platforms and the convenience of streaming services allowed customers to access a wide range of movies and TV shows from the comfort of their homes. Blockbuster's un-innovative reliance on physical stores and the inconvenience of returning rented DVDs became less appealing to customers, leading to a decline in foot traffic and revenue. The downfall of Blockbuster serves as a cautionary tale for companies that fail to recognize and respond to disruptive forces in their industry. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This book stands as an invaluable resource for anyone manoeuvring through the dynamic and ever-changing business realm. What sets this guide apart is its well-structured and comprehensive framework, supplemented by tangible real-life instances, which equips aspiring innovators and disruptors with the tools to comprehend and implement disruptive innovation effectively. In an era where businesses face constant evolution and rapid shifts in market dynamics, Rodriguez's guide serves as a beacon, illuminating the path to understanding and leveraging disruptive innovation.
