Dr. Ghoulem Berra's life began in 1938, which was the year of his birth. Algeria was his birthplace, and Aïn Beïda was the village he grew up in. Like many people in Algeria who grew up in that period, he was raised humbly. His father, Hamadi Berrah, died when he was 5 years old. His earliest memories of politics happened in his childhood days when he realised the differences in how native Algerians and French settlers were treated by the government of the time. The separation was stark and clear.

His political interests were heightened while studying in Paris. He was an activist, and he was disruptive, which led to him getting arrested by the French authorities. His political life peaked in Côte d'Ivoire, where he worked under President Felix Houphouët-Boigny. A Dream For Peace captures all these moments and many, many more.

I found the author's story to be highly intriguing. He lived a life full of highlights and some lowlights. His story was mostly fascinating because his transformation from a disruptive youth to a respected political figure was quite the highlight. His maturity allowed him to enter spaces that were beyond his wildest dreams, and it also allowed him to have conversations that literally changed the course of history.

With that said, he wasn't always popular with his countrymen because of his stances, especially his position on the Israel-Palestine conflict. I thought that this section of the memoir showed the author's greatest strength. He was a man who stood up for his beliefs, no matter what. When he was faced with opposition, he stood firm on his stance of spreading peace across the Middle East.

This was a flawless memoir. It was balanced, too. It didn't just focus on the author's professional life, but it also touched on his personal life. It didn't just praise his actions, but it was also critical of his wrongdoings. I have nothing negative to add about this book. I pretty much loved everything about it. It was edited exceptionally, too. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. And I recommend it to those readers who are fond of memoirs about remarkable people. I think that readers who enjoy politics will also love it.
