The story “Snatched Up to Heaven for Kids” by Jemima and Arvind Paul is a fiction book covering a wide range of Christianity, from aspects of heaven and hell. This book spreads awareness of avoiding places like hell by repenting to Jesus and instead, going to a safe place like hell. Soon, God will run out of patience.

At first, Emma’s parents influence eight year old Emma and six year old Bella. They teach their children to connect to their religion by reading the bible to them. At first, Emma has a dream about heaven; learning the aspects of how those who listen to God and Jesus have a better life with comfortable beds to sleep in, yummy food to eat, and Jesus and God always watching them to ensure they’re safe. She connected this “flying” aspect to flying in an airplane visiting grandpa and grandma. To have a visual representation of this, pictures are provided of how Jesus and God take care of everyone in heaven. People in heaven lived a nice life with lots of fun. This consisted of worshipping Jesus and God, playing games, dancing, playing in a special water fountain, and picking plants. There were no sicknesses and it was the life everyone wanted to live. By sharing this story, Emma’s parents told their children that God will reward you bigger things when you interpret something right on Earth and smaller rewards varying what you did. The story then look a little “twist” where Jesus showed Emma what hell was like; hot and scary with darkness and fire. However when Jesus moved closer, it became lighter. This showed Jesus was the light, the help. People in hell were scared of Jesus because of what he can do. Then, Emma realizes how bad of a place hell is compared to heaven. To avoid more people from going to hell and God forgiving our sins, her plan with her parents were to spread awareness to others about repenting to Jesus Christ so that they could avoid places like hell and go to heaven. Soon, God is going to lose patience so repenting should be done now to go to heaven. We also had a visual of Emma’s internal thoughts; it was a picture of others learning the idea of repenting and having the ability to go to heaven. This showed it was her motivation and it was what made her happy.

The strengths of this story are demonstrating a great way to spread awareness of avoiding places like hell by describing it’s scary setting and learning to repent to go to heaven. Therefore, God will forgive you for your sins and you can go to heaven in comfortable beds, eating delicious food, and Jesus and God always watching over you to ensure you’re safe. Here, you will be able to worship God, play, or other hobbies without the worry of any pressures. I believe the visual representations of this story helped develop a “visual idea” of what it looks like to be in a place like hell compared to a place like heaven. In heaven, we are happy to be near God and enjoy the meals we eat, be protected by angels, and have God there to protect us. However, places like hell consist of fire being everywhere, no food or water, no beds to rest, no medicine to heal them, and insects everywhere. The look characters in heaven had demonstrated what it’s like to feel scared and regretful. Therefore, being a good person will show God that you deserve a bigger reward in that way, heaven. I feel that the visual representations demonstrate aspects of heaven and hell and to avoid places like that by committing to repent.

The weaknesses of this story are the lack towards the end of the story. At the beginning, things were going slowly and towards the end, I felt that it jumped instantly to the conclusion of repenting without other realizations. Overall, I felt the weakness was the story being rushed in the ending because we didn’t really see Emma and Bella’s internal thoughts about repenting. While we did see what Emma was going to do to help spread awareness of repenting, her mom and sister lacked character. It would’ve been nice to see a twist of Bella having an idea about repenting. I felt she was really quiet this entire time. While it makes sense she was only 6 years of age, it would’ve been nice to have more teamwork into interpreting an idea to spread awareness to people about repenting.

As you can see, this story outlines the knowledge of repenting for Jesus to forgive you sins. Therefore, to avoid sad and scary places like hell. Instead, going to safe and restful places like heaven where you can play, eat, and rest without the worries of getting sick or hungry. As I have learned throughout this story, God will reward you for how you are in the Earth for afterlife.
