There are so many twists and subplots in Twisted Threads by Kaylin McFarren, that I had to read it twice.

Akira is an assassin, not that she wants to be one. But she has a job to do. She must find out who killed Keiko Mitsui. She is told the one who murdered Keiko will be aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean. She will need a way to get to know some of the passengers and starts using a very handsome man named Devon to help her get some answers. She is sure that Devon’s Aunt Sara and Uncle Paul are somehow involved. Soon her interest in Devon becomes more than just getting information. That is ok with her. She is enjoying their time together. But is it just a shipboard romance that will end when the cruise is over?

I have been on a Caribbean cruise. It was nothing like what Akira experienced. There were pink sand beaches and starry skies, but I don’t think a single body was thrown overboard. There were so many twists and turns, keeping track of everyone and how they are connected, was quite the challenge. It was an enjoyable challenge. This is one book that I would love to have a conversation with the author. I would like to have her untwist the threads and see if my guesses were correct.

Some of the violent scenes were shocking and too vivid for me. I am not fond of blood and gore.

I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars. It is fast-paced and exciting. I enjoyed the author’s descriptions, and she kept me guessing till the very end. I did have a little trouble keeping up with all the shadowy characters.

If you enjoy mystery suspense, plot twists, and erotic romance you will enjoy this book. However, this is an adult novel, not for children. There is violence, profanity, and sexual situations.
