We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a story about multiple characters surviving in the vast world of Voulhire. We follow the journey of a man who received an inheritance, a king and his servants, a lord and his family, an evil mage, and many other characters that are slowly presented and developed during the book. Throughout the book, their stories slowly start to connect, and our understanding of the mysterious land of Voulhire starts to become clearer.

I give this story a 4 out of 5. It started out intriguingly and quickly became action-packed, something that got me hooked from the beginning. The novel had a mysterious quality that made me want to keep turning the pages. I found that it was very well written, and the way the author introduced each character was done with so much care. Each character had their own story and their own motives; however, one would slowly start to put the pieces of the puzzle together as it went on, narratively intertwining events as we were introduced to each chapter. The alternation between narrative points of view was especially interesting to me. Even though there were a lot of characters to keep track of, the author's writing style made it extremely clear which one was the primary storyteller. Furthermore, the chapters were short and dynamic, which made the story easier to follow.

The author also employed rich descriptions of the different parts of Voulhire. As someone who adores fantasy, world-building was an element that I strongly appreciated. I also liked that the author provided a reference guide for the words native to Voulhire. Having said that, I do think it would have been helpful to have the phonetic spelling of each word so that I could know how to pronounce them while I was reading.

Even though I am aware that there are more books in the series, I do wish there was a little bit more of an ending or a closure to this first book instead of a cliffhanger, but I suspect the author did it on purpose so the reader would pick up the next book in the series. If it were a stand-alone book, it would not have been satisfying at all, and I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

That being said, in general, it was a great introduction to the series, and I can't wait for more. I would recommend the book to any and all fantasy lovers, taking into account that this is not for kids. There is a lot of gore and sexual content in the story that may only be suitable for young adults and older.
