Galen is a man who once lived in the Lands of the Princes. Each of the four Princes has equal power and parcel of the continent. In all four lands, businessmen thrive while the others swim in poverty. Fearing death and considering the piece of paper he received from a stranger, Galen left the Lands of the Princes with big hope on a random ship. Hopefully, the ship is heading to Voulhire, where his inheritance from his uncle awaits Galen. The piece of paper was a will.
They first go to Soulhire the capital of Voulhire but the inheritance is in another region. When they arrived, the city was at the time of the Feast of Human Hands to celebrate success and to pay homage to King Saint Idus (Voulhire’s founder). The ceremony is led by the actual king of Voulhire and the head of the church. The ceremony takes place every year even during crisis periods. Like every other state, Voulhire has its organization but also has a rebel group.
The book’s organization is the first aspect I liked about this book. It contains a map that is a simple but useful image for the reader. And the characters’ names are all presented. The second is the author’s imagination. Mr. Matthew Tysz puts tremendous effort into providing details that make the book come alive. And finally, there are inspiring and motivating quotes within the book. The story by itself already gives important lessons.
The book is about travel, diversity, and creativity but I don’t like the fact that the author created a word: Heidi (head of the Church). That process is futile since some words could do the job (pastor, president of the Church, priest ...). If he intended the diode to be a personage, the simplest solution is to use a consonant (the Eiodi).
I rate this book 4 out of 5 because of some passages that contain profanity language. And it was not professionally edited. I recommend “We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies” for people aged 18 or more because of the type of subject treated under it.
