Review of Seeking... Finding... Healing...
Seeking…Finding…Healing….a complete guide to self-direct inner family healing, by Becky Lu Jackson, is a self-help book, that teaches us how to be a better and loving parent to our inner family. The book provides a complete guide; to overcome childhood or adulthood trauma. Unlike other self-help books, Seeking…Finding…Healing has step to step guidelines, that provides healing through visualization. It teaches us how to bond and guide our younger selves. According to Becky, this book is designed as an instruction manual, to heal your past. In this book, she teaches us to respect ourselves. Stresses on how, it is all about committing to become a parent your inner family deserves. The inner family healing promises mental, physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Seeking…Finding…Healing encourages us to trust ourselves. And be kind and loving towards ourselves. It also explains that perfection is not necessary, but the thing is to be your grandest version. In this book, Becky provides hope to people, who are looking for something to hang on to. The book also contains, others' healing stories, to get motivated and inspired.
The first half of the book is solely about how the book helps, and about the author’s experiences. There are a few times, when the healing visualization felt like DID (Dissociative identity disorder). It’s disturbing how the author states, that our inner-family is not a closed system. Considering it’s our visualization, someone else appearing unexpectedly for attention, doesn't make any sense to me. And on top of everything, the author asking them to go to their own parent, made me speechless. Considering that it’s her imagination, she can’t blame others and say they missed her. There were times when Becky said, she left one of her inner family members with someone rose, so that she can do the thing her inner family member was traumatized about. I think that was out of logic. If the inner family is within us, we can’t leave them somewhere, like luggage or children.
I rate this book 3 out of 5. Personally, I think this book is kind of weird. It is completely, my personal opinion, others might like it. It depends on one’s personal choice. I do read healing and self-help books, but this one is not my cup of tea.
I recommend this book to people; who are looking for hope or something to hang on to. The book definitely provides motivation; to keep going in life, and aids in mental healing. I don’t recommend this book to anyone with extreme traumas; if they are planning on completely relying on this book. Seeking…Finding…Healing… does aid in the healing process, but completing depending on this book to overcome traumas, I’m sure is not going to help. You can follow the guidelines of the book alongside your doctor's consultations. I would suggest not to self-direct your trauma healing.
