Review of Fear Not, Dream Big, & Execute
{i}FEAR NOT, DREAM BIG, & EXECUTE
Tools to Spark Your Dream and Ignite Your Follow-Through{/i}
By Jeff Meyer
{i}FEAR NOT, DREAM BIG, & EXECUTE{/i} is a book about attaining your DREAM not only through your effort but utilizing the divine help of God. Meyer intertwines his expertise as a minister, membership in the Franciscan Order, where he studied to be a priest for seven years, and thirty-five years as a professor of religious studies into a book that guides the reader on a journey of obtaining dreams as well as a closer relationship with the Lord.
Meyer divides his book into two parts. {b}Dream Sparks{/b} suggests various steps necessary to discover the dream. It deals with taking time to sit and listen, letting ideas pour into you. Find a coach that will help you find your Dream, not theirs. Use Jesus as your focus. Marinate (spend time) in his word, Memorize his word and Meditate on his word. Have hope. Be a friend. God did not intend for man to be alone. Brainstorm. There are no right or wrong ideas. Get those creative juices flowing.
{b}Realization Strategies{/b}, gives those who have a dream in mind but are finding it difficult executing it by suggesting steps necessary to get motivated. Begin the day with God. He will direct your path. Acknowledge Him, Believe He is, and Commit to Him. Make a list of priorities for the day. Be sure to add some time allotted to your dream. Which are most important? Do those first. He has listed chapters unsequentially so the reader can decide which areas he needs the most help in. Each lesson is followed by {b}try this{/b} exercise and thought-provoking suggestions implementing what he has explained throughout the book to get the juices flowing.
Many are the strongholds and oppositions in life that try to stop us from attaining our dreams. Many times, it’s that voice in our heads that screams the loudest. Meyer brings to light obstructions we run into such as procrastination, fear, discouragement, doubt, distraction, Satan, worry, anxiety, or social media involvement, as well as other hindrances, holding us back, trying to destroy the dream before it has even begun to form on paper. He interjects God’s purpose and plans into his writing which can only be a win-win case scenario. These are just a few of the suggestions offered to defeat negativity from defeating the dream.
Jeff Meyer, father of four, lives with his wife in Wisconsin. He has traveled, with his wife, several times to Ethiopia. At the time of writing, {i}FEAR NOT, DREAM BIG, & EXECUTE{/i} he was preparing to participate in a Ragnar, a 200-mile road relay race, and has ventured into deep sea excursions. He finds the most joy in exploration and travel. Called the modern-day Johnny Appleseed, he planted over 20 million trees in 2002 as a conservationist. He has published more than 54 books and 980 articles. Unfortunately, he passed on January 4, 2022.
This book has so many positives that it effectuates the works and word of God to achieve all He has for us, especially that part which is our dream. Meyer said that, “ You are a dream-maker. That is your true identity. God has created and redeemed you to bless the world with your dream” (pg189 para1). That gives me hope. God used Meyer to teach us how we can make dreams come true. The only true answer is God. While you are growing, changing, and leaning on God, you will be “growing” in your walk and relationship with Him. Your life will never be the same. Hold on, you are in for a glorious ride! If there were to be something negative to say about {i}FEAR NOT, DREAM BIG, & EXECUTE{/i} it would be that the book ended way too soon. This book is a keeper, as a reference and a reminder, that I will use to attain my dream.
I give this book four stars on a scale of {b}one out of four stars{/b}. Although there are some errors, the writing is magnificent, thought-provoking, insightful, intentional, beneficial, and life-altering. I did not give it a three because that would imply that it's only good where it far exceeds being good.
I would recommend {i}FEAR NOT, DREAM BIG, & EXECUTE{/i} to anyone and everyone who has ever dared to dream, who has a dream, and most importantly, to those who have never dreamed. We have all been given God's favor to be all that we can be for His glory. I believe that one of our purposes is to achieve the dreams He has put into our hearts. Jeff Meyer's book will, along with God's help, get you to that purpose and that dream.
