We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies written by Matthew Tysz, is a fantasy that revolves around war, magic, kings and lords. The story begins with an air of magic that surrounds the porch of Castle Hillport. With fear radiating from the guards and servants, they stood at the face of the doors ready to face the enemy that was yet to be seen. At last, Meldorath had found the enemy he sought to punish, Lord Orin who had been accused of bedroom acts enacted upon children. He uses this opportunity and appoints himself as the new Lord of Castle Hillport. Years passed and King Wilhelm Arcolo has no choice but to divert the attention of his four children from the throne and comes up with the solution of giving each of them an Island with a small army to lead yet he knows that there will come a time when there will be war between them as they will fight for the throne. Galen, a lad from the Land of Princes has finally found a way to escape the place that he once called home and boards a ship to Magnum Caelum where a fortune awaits him. Upon his arrival at Magnum Caelum, he learns that his uncle had passed on and that he inherited a fortune from him. It seems that the lives of Galen and King Wilhem may be entwined. Things may seem swell but there are whispers that Meldorath, the king's general is alive and if there is no corpse to prove that he is dead then the king most certainly would have kept him far away from the kingdom. But the question to be asked is, "why are the people of the Voulhire kingdom so afraid of Meldorath"? Is he just a general or a form of destruction?

I found myself intrigued at the beginning of the book, especially when Meldorath entered Castle Hillport and destroyed those who stood in his path without so much as lifting a finger. It was also heartwarming when Galen expressed his gratitude towards Rowan for getting him out of the Land of Princes.

Although the book was enjoyable to read, I felt as if there were parts that were missing as the first few chapters were from different points of view and did not flow into the next.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4. It was edited professionally and I did not encounter errors that would have had the readers pondering on what the author was trying to say.

This book is recommended to those who enjoy reading books based on magic, fantasy and war.
