Review of Four Critical Days
Four Critical Days by Edward Vogler is a suspense-filled spy thriller about a CIA agent James Wilson, and his wife and partner, Tifanny Wilson. Director Hawkins sent them to represent the US in Ukraine, to ensure a free and fair Presidential election. The Russia's quest to influence the election to their favor in other to gain control over Ukraine posed a threat to the election. It made the Ukraine government to make an aiding signal to agencies from several nations.
After Jay and his wife Tifanny arrived in Ukraine, they set out for secret meetings with agents from other countries. The agents introduced themselves, and a subsequent pairing in twos took place. Unfortunately, Jay and Tiffany split up, partnering with different agents for a secret undercover job among the Russians to get information on how they could stop Demchuk’s (the leading presidential candidate) assassination. The death of a few agents and some relationship challenges posed a challenge to Jay as he suspects a secret spy and traitor within them. Jay proposed not to trust anyone in other to accomplish their mission. Do you want to know who the secret spy was? Then this book will do justice to that.
This book has a fascinating, intriguing, thrilling, and engaging plot, which will pin you to a point until you finish reading it. I could not imagine reading a 302-page book in a day. The gun shots, car chase, police chase, and runs are intriguing. I adopted the code name Stella, which means rush and hide.
Jay’s response to his partner Misha in a challenging situation taught me a great lesson. He said, “the impossible is merely an opinion. Sometimes you need to go forward toward the thing that makes you want to turn and go back and fail. Failure is not an option here.” I had no choice but to note that down.
Unfortunately, I got lost most time as I read the book. I found it challenging to know who was making a conversation at a time, as the author, Edward Vogler, failed to state who. I also found a few errors in the book. Hence, the book was not well-edited.
With the negative aspects above, I will give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I think the author needs to make a few adjustments in the book, like, the conversation style and editing, to get an excellent rating.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a suspense-filled, action-packed, intriguing, and captivating spy thriller like Four Critical Days.
