In this memoir, a husband recounts his wife's battle with cancer, the many side affects of treatments, and his encouragement and love that led her to believe in her own survival.

During the road to recovery, the couple experienced a lot of obstacles, including Karp's own health scare. His dedication and determination to help get his wife back health never wavered.

Peter Simon Karp describes his wife, Mona, as a "cancer warrior". The mother of two, was given only 3-6 months to live in her mid-fifties, after being diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. She had never been a smoker. Needing answers, Karp, without hesitation, quit his job at a high-tech firm, to become his wife's full-time caregiver, and started seeking out doctor's and treatments. After being diagnosed by a second doctor, Mora started treatment in New York at a cancer center. The couple were expecting Mona to suffer physically from the chemotherapy, (hair loss, weight loss, being sickly) but unknown to them at the time, she would mostly be affected cognitively. Which Mona referred to it as "logjam", - a mental fogginess that impaired her short-term memory and her ability to concentrate. Mona's mental health history made her particularly vulnerable to depression and paranoia. The bright woman, who was once an english teacher, was now having horrible psychotic episodes, but thanks to her caregiver's close family team, and well, "orange juice", Karp managed to save Mona from her downward spiral. Karp's love and devotion are undeniable.

Beautifully written, this memoir reads like a novel.

“No one you Love is forever Dead if you truly Believe their Goodness and Beauty Cannot Perish...For precious moments, our Past was not dead; it was not even Past.” “Logjam of a Beauteous Mind”

3 out of 4, I would recommend.
