The beginning reads like a tale from the pages of Lord of the Rings, channeling the ever-imaginative Tolkien. The story had me hooked and intrigued from the start. We follow the story of a unique boy in a magical world. A classic tale of the outcast making his way in the world and becoming a history maker in his own right. End of the Last Great Kingdom features a brave, honest, and loyal boy who became that in spite of growing up lonely and ignored. We see him with a strong sense of right and wrong and courage above and beyond as he faces his trials. War comes upon him and Brimstone, as well as his friends, rise to the challenge to prove to themselves and the world that good can overcome injustice and evil.

I loved the storyline of this book and will be recommending it to my children to read. I loved the magical elements and the fantasy that keep your imagination going. I really enjoyed the loyalty and love between all the friends and how they would stop at nothing to protect each other. The mystery in this story kept me hooked and wondering through the whole thing how it was going to end. I had to know! There were small elements alluding to some adult themes that I did not like but considering the author, Victor Rose, could have made it a lot worse in detail I appreciated that there was very little info while also not glorifying the adult content.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I really, truly enjoyed this one and will read it again as well as the rest of the books in The Brimstone Chronicles as they come out. The author gives you just enough of the story in the first few chapters to keep you interested and curious to know more. The names throughout the book were very interesting and unique. It was very creative writing. The editing appears to be done well and thoroughly, which makes reading more enjoyable. The formatting and the events of the storyline are plotted out well. The writing was really good in my opinion and I look forward to more books from this author.

I did not find any profanity in this book. As I stated above there was some adult content mentioned but nothing that goes into any details. I did not feel there was anything inappropriate in this book. I felt that author wrote the feelings and thoughts of the children in an age-appropriate way. The author’s attention to detail is remarkable. He paints a true picture in words.

I would recommend this book for pre-teens and teenagers with the understanding that certain content should be discussed with a parent or guardian. As an adult, however, I found this book enjoyable and I definitely want to read more by this author myself. I look forward to seeing what else Victor Rose creates in the future. Overall, I was very happy with this read.
