Mr. Peter Simon Karp is the president of BSI Global Research, Inc., and The Concept Testing Institute. He is also a Hobart College graduate with a Columbia MFA in play-writing. Mr. Peter co-wrote “Competing on Value,” Amacom, and wrote, “Time Chords: Stones ~ Drowning,” two recent novellas. Mr. Peter wrote a book “LOGJAM of a Beauteous-MIND” sharing his experience of his beloved wife Mona, who was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

Mona, a mother of two, in her mid-fifties is an English teacher and an admirable woman with a very brilliant mind. Mona soon turned to go mad because of the effect of logjam chemo brain, She was given 3-6 months to live by the brutal doctor who didn’t spare her. That news fell like a great thunder in Mona´s head. Her husband gave a break in his work and became her caregiver. Her family team managed to break Mona’s mood and her weakened spirit by giving her orange juice. Mona soon began to fight like a warrior. With the help of some good doctors, Mona survived for two years after the diagnosed and fortunately she could see her first grandson who was born when Mona was already ill. Mona dies and leaves her husband diagnosed with colon cancer. Luckily he went through some clinical surgery and he was healed.

The positive point about the book is that the author tells the story in the first person in that way making it easy to understand, and more exciting. So, Mr. Peter went through hard times for he spent day and night struggling for her dearest wife’s illness recovery. The book teaches us a lesson that we are all caregiver for our loved ones. I have learnt how lung cancer is diagnosed, its possible causes, its treatment and surely its chemo’s reactions.

I enjoyed reading the book although the negative part is the death of Mona at the end after a long fight. She had a sudden death that she could not even say her last words to her family. I wish she could have lived for more years to tell the story herself. Perhaps this was due to the little negligence of the clinic because when Mona suffered her worst post -chemo reaction on her last session, her oncologist was absent and there was no designated replacement for Mona. In the mean time, there was no other oncologist present at the clinic.

Nevertheless, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars, i did not rate it below because it is a well written book with few issues. It was not well edited. The book reads like a novel, with a lot to learn from it.

I would appeal the book to people who are willing to learn more about cancer illness. Cancer is killing human beings every day and is a fact. So, if this book is read by many people, perhaps there will be less cancer deaths. On the other hand, if doctors are trained especially to treat every type of cancer in mass there would be probably fewer victims. Also, to make clinics and hospitals aware that they should always replace any doctor, therapist, oncologist, etc., immediately after the absence of one.
