The Arrow That Flies By Day by John Servant started out with an ex-marine determined to try out for the national team even though he had not played in college. He eventually made the team and proved himself worthy with his skills, which didn’t sit well with some of his teammates. This caused him to be harassed, but he trusted in God and did not let anything bother him. He played multiple games well and earned the respect of a lot of people. John refrained from focusing on the reason why he left the marines until he met an old school mate that he fancied and wondered if it would affect their potential relationship, although he did not get the chance to inform her about the injury he sustained.

I loved that the book had no grammatical errors which showed that it was professionally edited. I liked that the book was realistic with showing that the main character had been through a lot and had a lot of challenges and still had the faith to believe in God. It showed the perspective of a good and dedicated Christian, and what I’d imagine a good Christian should be like. I liked how John had no family, but he had a great support system and Sister Francis was always there for him whenever he needed.

I did not like how the book ended. The climax seemed rushed and came out of nowhere. It was incredibly sad. I did not like how the bad outweighed the good that happened to John.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It did not have any grammatical errors and it was realistic and not far fetched and inspiring but, was incredibly sad.

I’d recommend this book to young Christians and people who love football.
