Marc Marci by Larry Goldsmith is a book about a nerdy boy who loved computers and gaming and had proud, affectionate, and loving parents who were best friends and lovebirds. Everything takes an epic turn when his parents are killed in an accident during one of their vacations and Marc has to live with his dad's best friend, Jack, who is also his dad's lawyer. Still struggling with depression, Marc decides that he wants to take an adventure traveling through Europe just like his parents did when they found each other and fell in love, with the intent that this could help him heal and feel closer to them. His journey is long and fun, as he makes two new female friends who are lovers and on vacation, who are kind to him and make him feel good again. They invite him to London to spend some time with them and show him around, as they want to help him get better after hearing his tragic story about his parents.

During his stay with them, they urge him to try something new as an adventure filled with an erotic experience and role-playing as a girl. Unfortunately, his adventures come to an end when a terrorist attack occurs, causing him to suffer fatal injuries, get an orchiectomy, and takes the life of his dear friend. This accident throws him into a deeper depression, suicidal thoughts, and an identity crisis as he decides to become a girl, not knowing what purpose he had in life. His new friend takes him to a hospital clinic known as the "compound for people with trauma and tragic stories," where he is taken care of and has life-changing decisions to make with proper guidance if he truly wants to be a girl and all that it entails. Marc Marci is in for a lot of drama, reprieve, self-development, and self-improvement. Will he/she make the right decision about who he/she wants to become? Would he/she make a decision clouded by emotions that he/she would forever regret? Would he/she learn to overcome their grief and find their purpose? What path does their future hold?

Many aspects of the book appeal to me. I like how the author attributes the characters in the book. His morals, ethics, and ability to admit mistakes were flawless. It was written in the first person, like a true narrative or story. I found the book alluring and intriguing, with every chapter priming and preparing you for the next. The book was descriptive and spoke of the past and present with flashbacks. I like the way they express humor and romantic relationships.

I didn’t find anything to dislike about this book. I appreciate how simple it was to understand the book with correct grammar and spelling. The book was so touching and relatable that I found myself waiting to read what happened next. The suspense was used well.

The author clearly has writing experience, as his performance was excellent, keeping the drama and suspense at a high level. The book appears to have been professionally edited, as I found zero errors in the entire book. For these reasons, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy romance, drama, and plot twists. There is some explicit sexual content. It is appropriate for a mature audience. I will caution that there is a small amount of religious content involving prayers and discussion of the Jewish traditions, but it probably will not be offensive to most readers. There are some scenes, like the accident and the surgical experience, that may be sensitive to imaginative readers, but it is not a serious issue, and it probably will not be disturbing to most readers.

Oh, this book seems to be insane. I understand why you had to rate it four stars. I think after I read it, I will also feel that way.

I have read some of this book and appreciate the resilience of Marci and her determination to continue no matter the obstacles. Reading reviews is so informative. I could guess the definition of orchiectomy from the context, but I really like to learn new words. Thanks!

Besides, I don't think romance is my thing.
Though I'm a little curious about the decision Marc would make.

The gentleman goes through so many sad events, and depression often occurs due to such events. The review is interesting and enjoyable. The LGBT community will love this book

Your review made me feel emotional as I read about Marc. I feel sorry for him losing his parents and in the process of him finding solace a more tragic event happened. I would love to know what decision he finally came to. This is a must-read for me. Thanks for the captivating review.

Marc's story seems to be full of the highest highs and the lowest lows. I would definitely like to add this book to my shelf.
