Restore Trust is actually a very fitting title for the book. It covers topics such as poverty, part-time employment, healthcare, retirement plan, wages, criminal system, prisons, voting, tax and more. In a nut shell this book covers almost every important issue regarding the American system. How the system may work against some and work only for a few selected group of people, but the author shares all this information to help restore the trust that almost all the people have lost over the last few decades.

Werner NEFF writes about recent events/situations that have occurred, example elections with Trump, Obamacare health system; and he includes important information of events that occurred in the 1900’s as well. There is a lot to take in as you read this book; I found it to be insightful with regards to the government or the economic systems in the world, not referring to America only. The author describes everything with a lot of details; it helped me understand the most complicated chapters he has written. My favourite quotes from the book are, “Being underpaid leaves people feeling unmotivated and undignified, and surely has an impact on job performance and, ultimately, customer service.” which I thought this was accurate as well as “Money can buy nearly anything—certainly including influence and power.”

There wasn’t anything I disliked about the book. I just wouldn’t consider it something to read if you want to have a cup of coffee and chill. This is an intense book but is well written and edited. You don’t have to be an American to understand the importance of the information given; majority of the information can help educate anyone who wants to gain more knowledge about things that affect us daily and we are unable to understand how to make the right changes regarding them.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed reading it but it was a lot to take in. I wouldn’t think this would be ideal to read if you want to relax or have something light to read. I did like how the author sums up the main important things for the reader in the end, letting us to know what we can do today to make the system fair for everyone.

Although this book is written about the American system and for the American people, I would still consider this book to be enlightening to anyone who is curious and want to gain more insight on how most economies are run, adults who is curious about politics, democracy and their rights in their country.
