Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature is a spiritual book about achieving happiness. Chet Shupe explains how humans endure many harsh experiences in life. We are needing insight on how to change belief patterns. Globalization has brought us so many comforts in this world, but we remain unhappy.

The imperfections of the world are discussed using examples of social media and institutional oppression. Chet Shupe believes that instead of seeking happiness on the outside we should look at our souls for the answers. We need to give up control because we were born to be players in life, not control it. Spiritual development is key to achieving this happiness. The author believes we need to build spiritual homes. This is a place where we love each other unconditionally. Living in sisterhood and brotherhood, we can manage our suffering. A very idealistic solution for all our suffering. The message of the book is to love each other and progress spiritually. The author purports that humans need to become more emotionally intelligent.

Chet Shupe notes all the negative aspects of human nature in this book but fails to consider the good. He does not look at human nature holistically. Chet Shupe's solutions are very unrealistic. He does not provide concrete ways on how to become spiritually focused. How do we raise our emotional intelligence? I could not find the answer in this book. It is as if the author sat with a dictionary when he wrote the book looking for the most difficult words in the English language.

Rediscovering the Wisdom of Human Nature is not easy to understand. On page 64, the programming of society and the God delusion is introduced as being a cause of our unhappiness. The concepts are not explained adequately. I am left with more questions than answers. Chet Shupe uses quotes from the bible and specifically mentions Jesus in a few chapters. I do feel this book was based on any particular religion.

I did not find any spelling errors. The book is professionally edited. I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars. The author does not explain in detail how to become more spiritual. This book would appeal to people who are embarking on their spiritual journey. It is a decent introduction for people who searching for a greater meaning in life. I give the book 2 stars because it emphasizes love and peace.
