Review of Scorn of Secrets
Scorn of secrets by B. Truly . is a fictional novel that centres on the teenage life of a girl named Madison. It could be classified into the Young Adult genre. In this open-ended story, Madison is a teenage girl who has faced life turbulences alongside her family. Though unable to recover, the rest of her family seems to be moving on a bit too fast. When she decides to accept reality and move on,the worst seems to befall her. Afraid no one will believe her, she is afraid to confide in anyone. Only two outcomes are possible. Madison is fighting a fierce battle with fate. Either she becomes a victim, or she triumphs as a victor.
The magic in the writing piece of B. Truly is indeed powerful. It is a captivating piece that captures the mind of the readers and pulls them to another world. It makes you see the story in Madison's very own eyes. Every emotion is felt, none is excluded. It awakens the imaginative skill of your mind to picture the scenes like a witness. The drama-filled scenes and the realistic personalities of the characters is something to look forward to. This book carries a message to encourage people on the benefits of speaking up despite the difficulty,of being vocal and standing up for ourselves and protecting our rights.
Unfortunately, perfection is believed to be impossible and such is the case in this writing of B. Truly. For a start, the first few chapters were quite boring. It was such a struggle to overcome and pull through. The scenes in the first-third of the book was unnecessary long. Everything was just playing out almost too slow. The manner of speech and expression used in the writing is quite old considering it was written about two decades ago.
With the ups and downs of this novel made by author B. Truly, I'll rate this book a three out of four stars . I consider the rating fair and just. It is well-deserved and influenced only by the writing itself. An uncaptivating piece at first, that was hard to keep up, transformed to an incredibly wonderful piece hard to put down. It takes you on an adventurous ride filled with joy, love, heartbreak, sorrow, anxiety, and so much more. It also lacks the annoying cliches common in an average novel, but instead,it is an original idea and work. Though the book seemed to slow at beginning only to get too fast at the ending, it is a very impressive work. B. Truly did a great work especially as a teenager then.
This book is recommended for those who love open-ended stories. Due to contents and language, it is recommended for mature teens and adults. Also, if you are a lover of young adult genre, then this book is for you. Anyone who reads this book is bound to love it.
