How To Be Successful by M. Curtis McCoy is a motivational book. He uses this memoir as a means to get across people by inspiring them. Everything changed when he was diagnosed with diabetes and brain cancer. Having few months left to live, so many people would have called it quits. But, M. Curtis McCoy continued to push through in life. He accomplished great things in life despite his ailments. He became inspired to make a difference in as many lives as possible, which led him to write this memoir.

M. Curtis McCoy is the owner of the renowned Best Cellular. The writer sets the pros and cons to having a successful life. He lays down tips that help a person decide on what works for them. This book does not only talk about how to become successful. But also, things a person needs to expect after success. It helps a person become mentally prepared. Due to his physical challenges in life, he had to work harder to achieve success. He is a competitive person. Whenever he gets knocked down in life, he always picks himself back up.

This memoir does not center on finances alone, but also relationships, health, and family. It is a motivational book as it helps a person relate to the experiences written in this book. He has always been a problem solver. He was never rich from the start but had to achieve his goals through hard work, determination, and faith. He never gave up when things seemed like it was over for him. He is an inspiration indeed.

The positive aspect of this memoir is that it is a constant reminder for people to invest in themselves. Haven read the book, there were a lot of times when I had to think and re-evaluate my actions. It was inspiring to read about people that had to make sacrifices to achieve their goals. It has made me put more effort into things, which is helpful. It helps a person to create room for growth and also to be disciplined.

The negative aspect of this book was that there were some errors. Although I liked the book, it was disheartening to see them re-occur. The book was not well edited. I did not read as well as I would have loved. I felt like they could have been more questions asked when the writer was interviewing people. I felt like it was boring to see the same questions asked to different people. I would have loved to see more.

I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars because of the errors. It is an intriguing story as I connected to this book in many ways. This memoir serves as a means to prepare people who are struggling. It centers on a lot of things as it helps to expand the knowledge of a person. It allows a person to re-evaluate his or her actions after reading this book. It is a book on self-growth and discipline.

I would recommend this book to people interested in non-fiction. Reading about people’s experiences caused a thrill in me. I enjoyed the book a lot more than I imagined. This memoir contained few words of profanity, which may be sensitive to some readers. If you want to improve on your lifestyle and finances, this is the book for you. It is simply a must-read.

This book is a perfect book to start a new year, I did this book last year and I'll do it again this year. The interviews, real-life examples and quotes in this book go a long way into making the reader have a different and positive idea of success.
