Do you believe that there could be multiple numbers of the universe, where different versions of yourself exist? Worldline by Adam Guest is not your ordinary sci-fi novel. It talks majorly on the many-worlds hypotheses and the act of lucid-dreaming, implying that there is a possible chance of an alternate universe where there are different outcomes for the same event and how we can make conscious memories in our unconscious state.

After a terrible accident in junior year, Gary Jackson suffered a few disabilities, which also affected his mental health. He fancied the act of lucid dreaming, and on a particular one, he consciously committed murder. He began to seek answers when his girlfriend’s mother, who suffered from memory loss and had been in the hospital for days, claimed to have witnessed the crime he committed. In another world, Gary didn’t have an accident; he was a physics student at the University, and life was going pretty well for him. Things took a bad turn for him when he got arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Michelle, a crime he had no memory of committing. How will he prove his innocence? And why would he want to kill someone he considered his soulmate?

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. The characters were well developed and real. This book was written in the first-person narrative, and the writing style used was conversational. I liked how the author made use of simple words that were easy to understand. The author was able to give us a good picture of how Gary's life was in about four different universes, and I was intrigued by how he was able to maneuver from one universe to another, keeping me in suspense of what was going to happen next in that universe.

Though these theories were logical, I still find some a bit unbelievable, especially the many-world theory. The author left me with so many unanswered questions, mostly about Quantum Immortality: The idea that in a multiverse, if all possible outcomes to any scenario all play out in different universes and the probability of death at any given point is never one, then we could potentially all live forever from our perspective. I can’t say there is anything I disliked about this book. The author mentioned that some corrections were made to the book, yet I still found a few grammatical errors in it, but not to the point that it disrupted my reading flow. Therefore I would say that this book seems professionally edited.

This book deserves a complete 4 out of 4-star rating. I felt the author’s creativity in writing this book, and I was drawn to all the proposed theories; they got me in deep thoughts. And I think practicing lucid dreaming would not be such a bad idea for me to try. I recommend this book to the general audience, especially those that have a good scientific mindset.

I read a lot of positive reviews on Worldlines by Adam Guest. But I think I’ll find some of its theories confusing as well.

Great job on the review.

I have read this book, and liked it as well. I had questioned myself of the reality of the Many Worlds Interepretation, and what if it was true.

Four universes?! Wow, I can see how that can be easily confusing. Glad that the author could navigate it well. Good job with the review.

I enjoyed this book as well! Though the Many Worlds theory is so complicated, I also felt that it's been done in other places, like Marvel Universe. Even so, it was so original here. Great review!

I've always found the idea of parallel universes quite intriguing. I mean, who knows? Why not? Worldlines seems like a book that has a lot to offer in this regard. Thank you for your great review!
