Rescued written by E. Alan Fleishchauer is an action thrilling Western novel. It is a story about the adventurous journey of a man in the late 19th century named John Thurgood Thomas. JT, as his friends fondly call him, was on his way to the mountains in Colorado when a sudden downpour began. As he decided to seek shelter, he soon discovered a hidden cave that belonged to a miner who once killed himself, leaving his fortune to whoever found his cave.

Before JT had a chance to explore the hidden cave, he had spotted a wagon hauled by horses, with three women behind. The women were tied and beaten with a whip by some men behind them. JT watched as one of the ladies was dragged in the mud. With his federal marshal skills in use, JT decided to shoot the men on the horses with his 0.50 caliber buffalo gun. The hunt for survival began as the men started running for their lives. Could rescuing the captives from these men bring about another good fortune for JT?

Annabelle, an adventure seeker, represents a character I admire in this novel. She is portrayed as a resilient woman due to the different life challenges she encountered in the past. I enjoyed the togetherness of Point Stevens Pass with the other minor towns, even during tragic events that had occurred. Rescued is well-written and professionally edited, as I did not find any grammatical errors in the book.

Jean is another fearless character in the novel. She was distinguished for her audacious personality. Though she was a criminal, she displayed good traits. She was focused and determined throughout her criminal operation. I must commend E. Alan Fleishchauer's exceptional descriptive skills. The characters in the book were remarkably developed and were straightforward to follow.

For me, Rescued is a fast-paced action novel that caught my attention right from the cover page. I could not risk taking a moment off the book. It felt like I was present in the plot twist. There were a few profane words and a little romance. Due to this, the book is not suitable for children and people sensitive to this. Above all, there is nothing I dislike about the book. Therefore, I would rate the book 4 out of 4 stars as I enjoyed every suspense and captivating moment. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thrilling Western novels coupled with slight romance.
