Review by shirleym89 -- The Dark Web Murders
In the prologue of The Dark Web Murders, readers are drawn into the intertwined world of several key characters. These characters will play a vital role in the events that occur throughout the storyline. Readers are transported back to August 2012, where a young man by the name of Kevin Lane is incarcerated in the Miligan prison. The reason behind his incarceration is unknown at this point. The gruesomeness of this book is exposed when Kevin Lane doesn’t survive his first night in the prison. McStravick and his partner attempt to murder him. Kevin Lane attempts to defend himself, this however is futile because it results in his death. It is unclear as to why information about Kevin Lane's demise has been shared in the prologue. The opening scene may be brutal but certainly entices the reader to turn the next page.
In the first few chapters of the book, we are introduced to various individuals: A judge who plays on both sides of the law, the members of his questionable club and chief inspector Jim Sheehan and his team. On the evening that judge Trevor Neeson holds an introductory meeting for the new members of his club, he is brutally murdered by an unknown enemy. The bashing on the back of his head, as well as the prison treechan, stuck in his rectum paint the picture of a depraved murderer. The enemy could very well be one of his guests or perhaps his assistant or maybe some ex-criminal with a vengeance for the judge's ruthless sentencing.
Chief Inspector Jim Sheehan will embark on a quest to uncover the murder. He will encounter several loose ends, such as the one where he tries to connect judge Neesons death and that of the teacher. What possibly could a judge and a teacher have in turn? The clue that Jim Sheehan has is the similarities of their murders. Jim Sheehan and his team will interview all the members of the club. The members do not reveal the real reason behind their meeting that evening. What lies beyond this mysterious club? Could it assist in uncovering the one behind the gruesome murders? Detective Seargent Stewart through deep investigation will stumble upon The dark web. The dark web will her to some blogs by an intellectual, dangerous, and calculating murderer. He recounts the murders he has committed in detail. He is the missing puzzle in the story. His motives for the murders lie in the prologue. Will he be uncovered or is he too calculating and intelligent?
The title of the book is only but a glimpse of all that readers should expect from this thrilling read. The dark web murders have all that one would look for in a mystery book: suspense, a diabolical villain, and a relentless chief inspector who will probe at every clue to unmask the one behind the murders and philosophical blogs. The book was professionally edited.
I rate the book 3 out 4 stars. Brian O Hare did the book justice. It left me longing for more of his works. The book was professionally edited, however I wouldn't recommend it t sensitive people. The murders are described gruesomely.
