Review by BreathofFreshAriel -- The Solution is Politica...
Although less militant than the title makes it sound, this book seeks to explain the complexities and corruption that plague the American government and its agencies. Jillion R. Rising is just an average citizen like you and me, and he's tired of governments reckless and unchecked spending, greediness, and lying. He delves into why he believes the media and the government are trying to divide its citizenry into political factions and makes a case that the taxpayers are the real power behind the strongest currency in the world.
While some might write off the author as a conspiracy theorist, his thorough evaluations and deductions prove his seriousness. He mentions many times throughout the book that this is not an attempt to assign blame, and he leaves room for the reader to decide whether these deceptions were purposeful or just a result of poor leadership and management. The most important point in The Solution is Political Revolution is that the American people hold their government accountable from this point on.
Every point made throughout the book was well-argued. He did a fabulous job of backing up his claims with sources that (most of the time) came straight from a government website. Using public information, he carefully picked apart the pieces that didn't add up, and without pointing fingers or picking sides, came to his own conclusions about such issues as the 2008 mortgage crisis or the connections between Wall Street, commercial banking, and the government.
He stresses that before we are Democrats or Republicans, we are Americans, and if we are to keep our government working for us, we need to be a united front. He emphasizes the importance of being a united nation and offers solutions on how, as a connected citizenry, we can make our government change for the better. No matter what side you're on, I think this is something we could all benefit from reading, as it remained bipartisan in its entirety.
I'm not well versed in political language, and although there were some parts I had to read twice to wrap my head around, it was very clear and amateur-friendly. I would recommend this book to anyone unhappy with the U.S. government, whether for their spending, bailouts, fractional lending, or just about anything else! Even if you're satisfied with how the government is operating, this book might shed some light into cracks you never knew were there. I certainly learned some startling things! I wouldn't recommend this to young adults because its theories and dissections of the American economy, government, and various entities are rather complex.
While I enjoyed the book quite a lot, there was a fair share of grammatical errors, and because of that, I chose to give this book a 3 out of 4 stars. Some parts of the text were not technically errors but were hard to read nonetheless. I don't have any other reason for deducting points besides the errors; it was a very enlightening read and all the more thrilling because this is not fiction!
