3 out of 4 Poverty Crusade offers an interesting and personal take on the problem of the lack of government resources given to those who truly need it most. The poor farmers in the small town in the book present the problems that many people across the world face: lack of food, clean drinking water, and medical supplies. The government officials that promised to fix the problem have been elected. However, they have failed these people and have gone back on their promises. While it is important to understand that poverty cannot be solved by one person, this book shows the important role that one person can play to jump start the solution to poverty.

Each character is described in a human and realistic way. This adds to the story because the reader can really become invested in the lives of these people. I thought it was especially interesting to see the culture of the community: the traditional leader and council, the announcements, and other aspects of daily life. Not only is the story line incredibly interesting, the characters are also very easy to relate to and easy to support. This book offers a universal theme and appeals to the humanity in many of its readers.
