Happy Healing: 8 Magic Steps to Relieve Physical Pain and Discomfort, written by Dominique Bourlet, is a book directed towards healing the physical body without invasive surgery. Dominique introduces a method that reposes pain humans experience and implements an approach that is harmless, universal, and effective. The author begins with a section quiz to determine the sincerity of the reader’s desire to heal the endured pain, and then proceeds to target specific healing goals paired with select chapters that would be best applied and beneficial for the reader. Although Dominique uncovers a variety of ways to reach a level of noticeable pain reduction, some of the noted decreases in pain seemed unfeasible, the methods overlapped and were repetitive. Therefore, I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars .

Happy Healing: 8 Magic Steps to Relieve Physical Pain and Discomfort seems professionally proofread as there were no profane or obscene terms used. The chapters were reasonable in length and constructed with good flow. There were not any errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar; however, the formatting among the paragraphs was offset. Large gaps of space existed between words and paragraphs where space between the words should only have been present. It frequently gave a misleading feeling of an incomplete statement without transition even though it was just the space that illusion a new paragraph.

I was initially drawn to the title. I liked the appeal that I have the opportunity to better listen to my body and nurture possible negative or hidden emotions that are expressed through a physical sensation. The methods that the author provides in the book are simple and practical, which I greatly respected. Dominique's strategies are an excellent way to learn how to speak to oneself in a more positive manner and acknowledge discomfort with inner honesty. Dominique enclosed helpful diagrams and examples to assist the reader with the process. For example, on page 55, there is a chart that illustrates how the steps transform the emotional representation of the physical pain. I thought it was an excellent tool to include to allow active monitoring of the process and decide whether to attempt the steps again for further alleviation.

Towards the end of Happy Healing: 8 Magic Steps to Relieve Physical Pain and Discomfort, the application of the methods that the author describes throughout the book are repetitive. Some of the statements are written verbatim within the phases. I understand the emphasis and impact the declarations serve, but after reading the same sentence more than three times in a different phase location, I experienced an inherent want to skip the sections. There could have been a disclosure statement to suggest that the steps could be repeated as necessary as opposed to rewriting the same phrase multiple times.

I recommend this book to anyone who experiences not just physical pain but emotional pain and is willing to connect and listen to what the body expresses through discomfort. It is a harmless process that I think is helpful and does not take any more than a focused hour of self- care. The intent at which the author wishes for people to live a happier, healthier, and peaceful life is evident. I do not recommend this book to those who believe that healing methods are for overly spiritual beings or for those who have apprehensive attitudes that the tactics described would be of any useful service.
