House of Eire is a mystery story by Jane Gillam. This book tells the story of Hillary’s search for her friend’s murder, Bridget. Bridget, an American woman, was in a search about the truth of the Irish famine that leads to an Irish migration to America while trying to stop an American developer to build a thematic park in Galway. The story develops around the mysterious death of Bridget and her friend search for his murder while on holidays in Ireland with her husband, daughter and close friend, Sarah. An intriguing story with a dramatic ending that keeps you reading.
The storyline full of small clues and discoveries lead by Bridget's goodwill, helps Hillary find part of her Irish family history and help her make peace with her father's side of her family. It has all the elements of a good mystery, with murder, intrigues, love and an evil character who manipulates others to get what they want.
I especially like from this book that is full of vivid images of Ireland landscape that make you want to visit this country. Its detailed description of the scenes and details on the characters makes them easy to imagine and even more easy for you to be part of the story. It’s also one of those books, you can stop reading because the intriguing story hooks you up almost from the beginning.
I couldn’t find any typo errors or grammatical mistakes. The book is well written with an interesting story full of action, emotions and interesting characters which make it easy to read. This is the reason why I rated this book as 3 out of 4 stars.
Finally, it could be nice to see the authors historic information about Ireland used to craft the story, as well as some additional information used as the historical background of the storyline as it is interesting and not very well known.
