Most often as humans we all tend to be curious. It's a normal psychological trait that tells us, the want to know all nature of our brains. When it comes to celebrities, as a fan we'll do anything to know their day to day activities. When it comes to the background information of such stars we become excessively eager to know. In a way, we want to know what, how, why, and when they became what they are now. Consequently, their stories serve as a source of inspiration and a force of drive to the general public. Thus, the famous Lauren Powers is no exception, but what is the inner story?

Beneath the muscle is a book by Lauren Powers. In this book she exposes her true self. According to Powers, whose actual birth name is Lauren D. MacDonald, she was born to a teenage mom and dad who although their love started as a "hot flame", turned into ashes three years after her birth, leading to a divorce. However, her dad didn't abandon her to her mom, he performed his rightful duties as the man of the house and a father. She describes herself as a perfectionist, whilst others aimed for hundred, she aimed far beyond that. She always wanted to be the best of herself and amongst others. Yet, her life wasn't full of all the bright colors, she became a drug addict, joined a gang and partied like there was no tomorrow. This is the period when she lost focus and cause. It was like a journey of no return but she made a return when the realization and the will to stop and be in control of her being once again set in. Now she is the best of the best out there.

Undeniably, it's clearly seen, that the main purpose of the book is to tell people what sort of person is underneath all that muscles and mask. To enable one to judge the character fairly without attacking them either directly or indirectly. Not only that, the book is also a source of inspiration and outlines various tactics with which one can truly excel. How to be able to and fight the adversities of the world and come out victorious. Staying focus, succeeding while being true to oneself and one's dreams.

The book is meant for the general public. Mostly, teens and the young adult since it dates way back to high school days and how she endured bullying and any other forms of embarrassment. The things I loved most in this book is that, every new heading had an inspiring and eye-opening quote attached to it. There were also a few number of pictures to show who exactly Lauren is. And my favorite part of all, before you'll even readthe explanations, the sub headings provide a certain sort of knowledge and motivation.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars due to the simple constructions of sentences and it being easy to understand and process. Its words pushes us to the point where we become open to the unknown and finally get to replace our fears with faith. One must always keep in mind the fact that, "within each one of us is an inner champion waiting to break free" and also "winning is not giving up, if you have a dream fight for it. There's a discipline for passion and it's not about how many times you fall down or get rejected or you're beaten up, it's about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep going". Stay positive and enjoy the book like I have.
