“The Wall” is an interesting fantastic view of the current world we live in. Based on the lives of a group of military men, the book follows them starting with a bit of a disaster. This disaster leads to capture, torture and pressure to turn on each other. This start shows how the characters both band together and have cracks between them. From there, they move to the mercenary field and the rest of the story follows them through their current assignment. They take the assignment very serious and go above and beyond in the performance of the assignment. The book has a very interesting plot based on current events with amazing Character definition. This gets the reader to feel for the characters and relate to them.

While there were a few areas of confusion in the editing, the book was very easy to read and draws the reader into the story. There were some points of the story where I was looking for a bit more closure. The abrupt shift from one point to another left me wondering what happened. How did they get from point ‘A’ to point ’B’? I would have liked a little bit more closure or a bridge from one section to the next.

I really like the concept of the story line and while the indication is that there will be more stories to come, the indication is that they will be on a completely different storyline. This leaves me wondering what happens with these wonderful characters! That concept works well for a cliff hanger to draw people in to the next book. What happened? Did the characters have more adventures? In this the author has a great sense of suspense.

This story is very current and makes the reader really think about current events. What is really going on in the world and is it really something good or what kind of problems will it cause? I love the author’s use of current events to get the reader to open up their minds and think about the world around them.

My rating would be 3 out of 4. Despite the confused editing issues at the beginning and the lack of closure, the story was well written and the characters that were well developed rank this book as worth the read. I would recommend “The Wall” to readers that are interested in current events, fantastical or paranormal events, and military enthusiasts.
